Job Description:
We are seeking a Community Engagement Manager to develop and execute community engagement and entitlement strategies for energy storage projects. This role serves as a critical liaison between local governments, residents, and stakeholders, ensuring the successful integration of our projects into the community. This role is fully remote with up to 30% travel.
Responsibilities:Serve as the primary liaison for local governments, residents, and stakeholdersOrganize public meetings, open houses, and educational eventsMonitor political and regulatory dynamics and mitigate entitlement risksOversee community benefit initiatives and grassroots advocacyCollaborate with internal teams such as Development, Legal, and Government AffairsTrack community sentiment and opposition to maintain project viabilityManage stakeholder databases and outreach materialsHelp build a national coalition around energy storage education for citiesImplement training and engagement strategies for OEMs, developers, and local partnersEssential Skills:Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or similar infrastructureProven ability to speak at city council or planning commission meetingsExperience managing external consultants and navigating discretionary permitting processesAbility to build coalitions with OEMs, developers, and local stakeholdersStrong understanding of real estate entitlements and development agreementsAbility to combat opposition and maintain community trustStakeholder management, energy infrastructure, government relations, real estate development agreements, coalition building, and strategic communicationsAdditional Skills & Qualifications:3-5 years in community engagement, permitting, or public affairsExperience with BESS or related technologies strongly preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsHighly organized and able to manage multiple projectsWillingness to travel up to 30%Proficiency in Microsoft OfficeFamiliarity with SmartSheet or SiteTracker is a plusReal estate background that supports development agreements and project approvalsExperience in renewables, oil & gas, or other energy sectorsBackground in legal, city planning, or community developmentWork Environment:
The role is remote (U.S.-based) with up to 30% travel, primarily focused on city council and community meetings. Frequent collaboration with internal teams and external consultants is expected. Denver or Southern California location is preferred due to project concentration, and the position will significantly enhance regional support where currently only two team members operate.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
