Description of Job Department: Internal Operations, Community Engagement Position title: Community Engagement Coordinator FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: This is a hybrid position, working in office at least 3 days per week - specific schedule is determined by supervisor based on departmental needs Expected Annual Travel: Frequent instate travel Summary of Functions: This position serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Governor’s Office of Internal Operations and is responsible for supporting the Deputy Director of Community Engagement with the implementation of the Governor’s robust community engagement and outreach plan across the state. Roles and Responsibilities + Assist the Community Engagement team in executing high-profile events for the Governor’s Office, including but not limited to: statewide listening tours, State of the State, Celebrate Colorado, cultural celebrations, etc. + Assist the Deputy Director of Community Engagement in developing and maintaining relationships with community partners through: research and awareness of community organizations and their programs, targeted outreach dependent on office initiatives and goals, and scheduling meetings with community leaders in various constituency groups, all in order to increase awareness and support of the Governor’s agenda. + Maintain a comprehensive community engagement calendar of upcoming community events and meetings that may be of interest to the Administration. + Maintain and contribute to a community engagement database that includes stakeholders, community members and local elected officials. + Assist the Deputy Director of Community Engagement in representing the Governor’s Office in community events across the state. + Assist in the monthly publication of the Community Engagement Newsletter and in maintaining the newsletter contact list. + Assist in managing the Community Engagement intern cohorts + Coordinate with internal teams and event organizers to schedule community events for the Governor’s attendance, and assists in coordinating the Governor’s meetings and special events including but not limited to sending out invitations and reminders, identifying the location, setting up the event and breaking down, etc. + Assists with the execution of the Governor’s bill signing tour in conjunction with the scheduling, legislative and communications teams. + Staffing the Governor and Lt. Governor at community events, as needed. + Special projects as assigned. Organizational Relationships: This position directly reports to the Deputy Director of Community Engagement. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimal Qualifications: + Minimum one year experience in volunteer management, community engagement relations, project management, community organizing or other related areas. + Project management skills: ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize, delegate, and to create systems and processes. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions. + Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally. + Works well under pressure. + Strong relationship management skills with community interactions. + Experience in and/or working with diverse constituencies and communities of color desired. + Additional language skills desired but not required.
