The Communications Specialist – Public Relations is responsible for generating positive media coverage and enhancing the organization’s visibility across the Florida region. This role requires a strong background in public relations, exceptional writing and communication skills, and a team-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will develop and execute strategic PR initiatives, build and maintain media relationships, and create compelling content that promotes the organization’s mission and impact. This role includes local travel approximately once a month for team meetings and quarterly department-wide meetings. 

A caregiver in this position works weekdays from 8:00AM – 5:00PM, remote local to Weston, Stuart, Tradition, Port St. Lucie, Indian River, and Miami area. Rotational on-call assignments as needed.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Works with marketing, communications, digital strategies, events, physician relations and business development teams to generate content to meet their goals and objectives. 

Works with physicians, health or subject matter experts to identify compelling stories, develop content and disseminate them to appropriate audiences. 

Collaboratively seeks and develops news and feature stories that can be told in multi-media formats. This may include writing, photographing, videotaping and video production. 

Arranges and conducts interviews, and writes, photographs or videotapes medical/health news material for appropriate communication channels. Repurposes content as necessary to meet needs of particular audiences. 

Creates print and digital content including, but not limited to, feature stories, event stories, profiles, interactive web features or live events on deadline and in a timely fashion. 

Works with marketing communications team members to measure and track applicable metrics, and recommend tactics to ensure any goals put in place are met.  

Works effectively in a team environment with tight deadlines. 

Edits photo, video and audio content. 

Supports requests from media contacts and internal stakeholders in meeting their deadlines. 

Participates in marketing meetings, task forces and groups. 

Serves on various committees throughout the organization. 

Serves as part of communications team for emergency operations management. 

Other duties as assigned. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Bachelor's Degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or related field. 

In-depth knowledge of marketing research techniques; problem solving, data collection and analysis, interpretation and presentation. 

Minimum of five years media relations, public relations or communications experience. 

Knowledge of communication practices in healthcare or related industry.

Ability to work closely with senior leadership and in team environments. 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

Requires frequent sitting, normal or corrected vision and manual dexterity sufficient to perform work on a personal computer.

Requires the ability to walk to various locations.

Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
