The Office of the Dean of Students at the University of Texas at Austin is looking for a communications coordinator to help shape the voice and vision of student life at UT Austin.
The Office of the Dean of Students is the hub for student involvement and support at UT Austin. Our mission is to create a transformative campus experience where students grow as leaders, thinkers, and engaged citizens.The Communications Team functions as an in-house “creative agency” for more than a dozen student-centered programming units—from legal services to student government, and sorority and fraternity life to volunteerism and service-learning programs. We lead branding efforts, craft digital and print content, and support events that make a difference in students’ lives.You’ll join: A team of four full-time staff members (web developer, senior graphic designer, assistant manager, and manager) plus a talented group of student creatives specializing in photography, social media, and design.You’ll gain: Hands-on experience across multiple communication disciplines. Marketing & Content Creation: Draft compelling copy for print and digital campaigns. Write and edit content for newsletters, email marketing, and digital signage. Collaborate on social media content and strategy—stay on top of trends and help grow our reach. Help capture photos and content at events to bring our stories to lifeProject Coordination: Manage timelines and vendor relationships for print collateral and promotional items. Track merchandise quotes, approvals, and invoices in partnership with our accounting team. Maintain inventory of marketing materials and recommend new items based on trendsStrategic Communication: Contribute to marketing strategies that engage students, staff, faculty, alumni, and donors. Participate in content planning meetings and pitch fresh ideas. Align messaging with University-wide initiatives and ensure consistency across platformsTeam Collaboration: Support student staff with guidance and feedback. Serve on event committees and provide on-site support during key events. Be a proactive, creative, and organized team player who’s ready to jump in wherever neededRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree and two-four years of experience in social media, writing or communications, with demonstrated project and/or relationship managementA self-starter who’s organized, detail-oriented, has a critical eye and thrives on a busy to-do list. Someone who’s not afraid to share ideas and take initiative. A team player who values creativity, collaboration, and high-quality work.Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, fast-moving communications environmentRelevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
