PurposeAs a key member of the Moody College of Communication’s Marketing and Communication team, the communication Specialist supports the college’s departments, schools, and the Communication and Leadership degree program. Serving as the primary point of contact for initiating and prioritizing new projects, the Specialist works collaboratively to develop and implement cohesive, creative strategies. They ensure a steady flow of high-quality, innovative content—written, multimedia, and visual—for social media, websites, and other digital platforms, aligning with college/department/school/degree priorities and performance goals. The Specialist stays current on emerging technologies and trends, upholds brand integrity, adheres to governance standards, and is committed to excellence and accountability in all communications and digital media.
ResponsibilitiesContent Creation, Distribution, and EngagementDevelop, produce, and curate original content for the official social media and digital channels of the departments, schools, and the Communication and Leadership (CLD) degree.
Create engaging visual, written, and multimedia content that reflects each unit’s identity while aligning with the overarching Moody College brand.
Establish and implement a consistent, platform-appropriate social media posting strategy.
Design, write, and distribute newsletters that communicate key updates, promote events and stories, maintain brand voice, and maximize reader engagement.
Collaborate with department and school administration to manage website content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
Create compelling graphics and messages to promote events and announcements via digital signage; oversee the posting schedule.
Engage with audiences on department and school social media accounts by responding to messages, inquiries, and comments as needed. Communicate noteworthy conversations or reactions to the MarCom team.
Project ManagementWork collaboratively with the MarCom team and department/school/degree leadership to plan, develop, and execute communication projects.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while ensuring timely and consistent delivery of communications.
Metrics and ReportingMonitor and evaluate the performance of social media, website, and email content.
Compile and analyze metrics to inform strategy and optimize reach and engagement across digital platforms.
Other duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of experience in social media, web, or digital communications, with demonstrated project and/or relationship management.
Proven experience creating content across a variety of social media platforms.
Experience managing and updating content on large-scale websites.
Strong digital graphic design skills and a keen eye for maintaining brand consistency.
Video production and editing experience for digital platforms.
Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., Drupal), email marketing platforms (and social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer).
Proficiency with project management tools and a demonstrated ability to stay organized and meet deadlines.
Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, fast-moving communications environment.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working in higher education or a large, complex organization.
Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for digital content.
Strong ability to communicate clearly, proactively, and professionally.
Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, or similar platforms to guide strategy and measure impact.
Knowledge of SEO best practices for web and digital content.
Ability to translate complex academic or administrative topics into clear, engaging content for a public audience.
A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of content types and storytelling strategies.
