The Howard Payne Athletic Communications office is accepting applications for a graduate assistant for the 2025-26 and may be extended to a second year (one to two-year appointment). The graduate assistant will assist with media and public relations efforts for the University’s 12 intercollegiate varsity sports. Located in Brownwood, Texas, Howard Payne is a member of NCAA Division III and the American Southwest Conference.

Responsibilities: - Serve as primary media contact for assigned sports. - Organize and record game statistics at athletic events and provide timely reporting of results to media outlets. - Produce weekly game notes, generate game programs and media guides, write game recaps, submit player-award nominations and handle other day-to-day duties as assigned. - Manage media area for assigned sports at home events. - Generate multimedia content for HPUsports.com and post in timely manner. - Assist in the management of student and game staff workers. - Adhere to all NCAA and American Southwest Conference rules and regulations.

Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, physical education, kinesiology, sport management or related fields. - Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. - Computer skills InDesign, Photoshop, SIDEARM (CMS), NCAA Live Stats, and Statcrew/Presto software. - Availability to work evenings and weekends. - Admission to a Howard Payne graduate program. Game Operations and Marketing Graduate Assistant

The graduate assistant will assist with game operations, marketing, and special project efforts for the University’s 12 intercollegiate varsity sports. Located in Brownwood, Texas, Howard Payne is a member of NCAA Division III and the American Southwest Conference.

Responsibilities: - Serve as primary marketing contact for the Howard Payne Athletics Jackets Century sponsorship program. - Organize, promote, and manage special events at Howard Payne home games as assigned by the athletic administrative staff. - Assist in the management of student and game staff workers. - Adhere to all NCAA and American Southwest Conference rules and regulations. - Other duties as assigned within the HPU game administration, sports information, and athletic department.

Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in marketing, management, communications, public relations, or a related field. - Strong organization and communication skills. - Availability to work evenings and weekends. - Admission to a Howard Payne graduate program. Compensation: On-campus housing is provided (even through summer sessions). 50% tuition waiver per semester, and stipend each semester.
