POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to theDirector of Media & Public Relations for WestCare California, the Marketing Specialist is a key member of the WestCare California Operations team. This role is responsible for overseeing thehuman-centered, program-focused creative design, production, and execution of WestCare California's marketing strategies. The individual in this role guides the development and coordination of creative materials and branding initiatives, ensuring a consistent brand message across all platforms relevant to WestCare's programs in California. Additionally, the Marketing & Content Specialist collaborates with internal WestCare California teams to enhance the visibility and reputation of WestCare's California programs and services.
This role also actively supports WestCare California's resource development efforts, specifically by leading and coordinating donation drives and contributing to fundraising initiatives.
This role requiresregular travel throughout Californiato attend events, gather content, and support on-site marketing needs for program promotion. This position maintains afunctional reporting relationship with the Director of Media and Public Relationsto ensure adherence to overall brand standards and to share best practices across the organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
+ Creative Strategy and Execution:Leads the creative development and production of program-specific marketing materials for WestCare California, includingdigital ads, signage, displays, event collateral, social media posts, videos, reels, and photos. Lead the creation of marketing collateral for California programs; Manages timelines, adjusts in real-time, and ensures assets are organized across all California program campaigns.
+ Collaboration and Coordination:Works closely with internal WestCare California teams (e.g., program staff, local leadership). Collaborates with the Director of Media and Public Relations in the marketing initiatives, ensuring seamless project workflows and adjusting timelines as needed to meet deadlines.
+ Digital Marketing:Oversees email marketing and monthly newsletters specifically for WestCare California audiences.Leads the creation and creative design of social media content, including posts, videos, reels, and photos, along with other digital marketing assets specifically promoting California programs.
+ MM focus on the creation of the loop and DMPR supports in the distribution
+ Website Content:Responsible for the content strategy, creation, and updates for all program-specific pages on the WestCare California website, ensuring content is human-centered and accurately reflects program offerings. This will be done in close coordination with WestCare California's Director of Media & PR.
+ DMPR to oversee website and MM to oversee the content and programs
+ Operational Support & Travel:Manages administrative tasks related to WestCare California's marketing, such as event planning support (from a marketing materials perspective), supply ordering for marketing needs, and other duties as required. This role requires regular travel throughout California to attend events, capture content, and support on-site marketing needs for WestCare California programs.
+ Digital Asset Management:Manages WestCare California's digital asset library, ensuring all program-focused creative assets (photos, videos, design files) are organized, tagged, and easily accessible for WestCare California teams. This will be done in close collaboration with the Director of Media & PR to ensure consistency in California-based assets
+ Social Media Strategy & Content:Is the creative lead for all WestCare California program-specific social media content and campaigns, including design and copywriting. This role willensure the monthly creation and scheduling of diverse social media content, including posts, videos, reels, and photos.This role will collaborate directly with the Director of Media & PR, who is responsible for the overall strategic communication plan for WestCare California social media,
+ Promotional Materials Coordination:Leads the production of a broad range of human-centered, program-focused promotional materials for WestCare California. The Marketing & Content Specialist will coordinate closely with the Director of Media & PR to understand their needs for specific promotional materials to be included in media kits or for broader public relations efforts
+ Event Marketing & On-Site Support:Provides all necessary marketing materials and on-site content capture/support when needed for WestCare California events, working in support with the Director of Media & PR. This includes ensuring the Marketing & Content Specialist understands the event schedule and marketing needs from the Director of Media & PR (who is the lead event planner and executor for WestCare California events), and communicates their travel capacity and content delivery timelines effectively to the Director of Media & Public Relations.
Community Engagement & Resource Development:
+ Leads the planning, promotion, and execution of program-specific donation drivesto collect essential goods and resources for WestCare California's clients.
+ Develops and implementsmarketing and communication strategies to support fundraising campaigns and initiatives, ensuring compelling storytelling and clear calls to action.
+ Collaborates with program leadership and the Director of Media & Public Relations toidentify and promote specific program needsthat align with donor interests.
+ Manages the creation ofpromotional materials for fundraising efforts, including appeals, impact reports, and donor recognition content.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
+ To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
+ Experience and Skills:Minimum of 3 years in marketing, graphic design, or communications, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro). Familiarity with project management software and Microsoft Office.
+ Experience with grassroots fundraising, donor engagement, or community outreach for resource development is highly desirable.
+ Design Expertise:Strong knowledge of digital and print design principles. Experience with design for packaging, catalogs, and digital platforms.
+ Communication and Organization:Excellent verbal, digital creation and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Highly organized and efficient multitasker.
+ Creativity and Problem-Solving:Strong ability to generate creative solutions, with keen attention to detail and an analytical mindset. Comfortable with changes in a fast-paced, growing organization.
+ Education:Bachelor's or Associate degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
+ Language Skills:Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Work is primarily performed in an office setting within California.
+ Regular travel throughout California is required, and some outdoor activities may be required during events.
+ Professional appearance and demeanor.
+ Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed for events or urgent campaigns.
