Service description:
As the External Communications Advisor for Group, you will work as part of its External Communications and Reputation Department. You will help to strengthen the Group’s reputation and raise awareness of its entities and activities, reinforcing its relationships with its external stakeholders and ultimately facilitating the delivery of its strategy.
The consultant will: Collaborate with the Group Head of External Communication and Reputation and your immediate colleagues to help shape and deliver the Group’s External Communications Strategy In line with this, translate the Group’s corporate strategy into clear, engaging and effective messaging which is aligned with its corporate narrative, is tailored to different channels and audiences, and whose impact is monitored and responded t work closely with staff from across the Group’s different entities on a range of high-profile projects and events, producing effective communications plans for each
Responsibilities:
Research, editorial input, writing and editing Research topics linked to our activities – from our entities and projects through to energy sector developments at national and European levels – including via discussions and interviews with the Group’s staff, to produce a wide range of external communications products, including press releases, speeches, event/video scripts, brochures, annual reports, webpages and social media posts Provide editorial input for, edit and proofread high-profile communications products developed by other teams across the Group, including press releases, annual viewpoints, annual reports, policy and strategy papers, and legally prescribed publications, ensuring that their intended messaging is clear In doing so, the consultant will ensure that the Group’s strategy and priorities are mirrored in these products, whilst also ensuring that they are clear, engaging, aligned with the needs and interests of their target audiences and the channels they are published on Ensure that the tone, language, voice and messaging used in external communications is consistent across the Group and is aligned with the Group’s corporate narrative, encouraging other teams to adopt a cohesive approach to their communications products Planning and monitoring Produce clear communications plans for the publications, events and products you work on which are aligned with the External Communications Strategy – these will be based on a solid understanding of target audiences and stakeholders, will be shaped in line with their needs and interests, will include clear performance metrics, and will be refined and improved based on their impact Lead on the organisation of external communications events and on the Group’s participation in events organised by partners or other energy sector players Support the Group’s Head of External Communication in the execution of the External Communications Strategy, including by developing a solid understanding of the Group’s different stakeholders and by monitoring the impact of communications products and campaigns. Requirements: At least 5 years of experience in a similar role A native command of English with excellent writing and editing skills Working knowledge of one of the Group’s other home languages: French, Dutch or German A university degree (in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, political science, or similar) Excellent conceptual, strategic and project management skills Ability to quickly familiarise yourself with complex topics and translate these into clear communications products for external audiences Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of quality in your work and refining it in response to feedback Ability to both collaborate closely with colleagues and work independently with a high degree of accountability Strong stakeholder management skills: ability to work comfortably with a wide range of different stakeholders of varying degrees of seniority Strong attention to detail and a sense of pride in your work Knowledge of the energy sector Experience with hosting and/or presenting events and videos, including working with external media companies on the preparation and editing of these Strong interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the importance of representation in communications products Additional information: Work regime: fulltime (1 year contract with no extension) Location: Brussels, with occasionally travel to Berlin Important: if the consultant will work in Belgium, for non-EU candidates, please present candidates who comply with the following criteria: Possess a work permit allowing the individual to work in Belgium.
