Job Description:
Position Summary:
This role reports directly to the Managing Director of Airbus Global Business Services in Portugal (who is also Head of Airbus in Portugal), with a strong link to the Airbus communication teams at headquarters and the Europe Region Communications network. The Airbus Communications Manager in Portugal is a pivotal role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, integrated communications strategy to elevate Airbus' brand, reputation, and business objectives across the country.
Accountabilities:Lead strategic communications and Airbus management support aligned with Airbus' global corporate strategy and local business priorities;
Manage brand and reputation for Airbus within Portugal across all communication channels;
Oversee Airbus integrated communications in Portugal ("One Roof, One Voice" approach);
Manage the Airbus GBS internal communications;
Act as the single point of communications contact (PoC) for all Airbus activities in Portugal, ensuring consistent messaging, fostering positive stakeholder relationships, and strategically positioning Airbus as a leader in sustainable aerospace;
Lead communications responses during crisis and special situations at the country level, in close coordination with Airbus global communications.
Main activities:EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION
Develop and implement an annual company-wide Communications plan for Portugal with specific, measurable and actionable communications objectives and manage related dashboards;
Manage and increase engagement of local team members through continuous guidance and mentorship;
Act as company spokesperson 24/7 as part of the global team managing special situations in the region with the support of Airbus global communications team;
Proactively manage relationships with national and local media, leveraging support from central media relations and the Europe region team, and coordinating with local PR agencies as needed;
Define and propose the relevant tools and means (internal, media, digital, exhibitions and events, branding, advertisements, sponsorship opportunities);
Ensure the Airbus company-wide communication material is delivered on time, and adapted to the local audiences (media, AirbusTV, airbus.com):
Support Head of Airbus in Portugal (ACR).
Secondary Responsibilities:
Oversee team support for Airbus management with speeches and participation at public events;
Support HO International Communications and Europe HO Communications with contributions to departmental collateral materials and dashboard reports;
Ensure all local activities are executed in a timely and accurate manner and entered in global Communications Planning;
Participate in regular team calls.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATION (Airbus GBS only)
Provide dedicated communications counsel and hands-on support to the Airbus GBS Portugal leadership team (Managing Director, Finance, HR, Work stream leaders) on all communications topics, including message development, content editing, speechwriting, and social media posts, ensuring alignment with company-wide strategy;
Collaborate with local HR to manage internal events for employees and their families, ensuring alignment with global messaging and branding, and contributing to internal information campaigns;
Ensure all local communications activities are executed accurately and timely, integrated into global communications planning, and participate in regular team calls with central and regional communications functions.
Organization structureThe jobholder will report operationally to the Managing Director GBS and, functionally to HO Europe Communications.
The role is located in Lisbon, Portugal, and embedded with the Airbus GBS.
Requirements
Significant hands-on experience (e.g., 5+ years) in a dedicated communications role, demonstrating a strong track record in developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies;
Demonstrated ability to manage and synchronize both internal and external communication efforts to ensure a consistent "One Roof, One Voice" message.
External Communications & Media Relations:
Strong experience in proactive media relations, including building and maintaining relationships with national and local media outlets.
Proven ability to act as a company spokesperson (or readiness to be trained and perform this role) for all Airbus activities in Portugal, including 24/7 availability for crisis situations.
Experience in managing brand reputation and positioning across various external channels (media, digital, events, advertising).
Internal Communications:
Extensive experience in developing and implementing internal communication plans for employees, including message development, content creation, and supporting internal events.
Ability to provide dedicated communications counsel and hands-on support to senior leadership (e.g., Managing Director, Finance, HR) on internal communication topics.
Ability to manage communication responses during crises and sensitive situations at the country level, in close coordination with global teams;
Experience in developing annual communication plans with measurable objectives and managing related dashboards to track performance;
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various internal stakeholders (e.g., HR, GBS leadership, central communications teams in France, Europe Region Communications) to align messaging and activities;
Fluent in Portuguese and English (both written and spoken) is essential.
