They are accountable for the supply base management of the commodity and use a variety of tools to drive supplier delivery and quality improvements and achieve a 3% YOY material productivity. Identify and develop “best in class” international and domestic supply base for critical components while also reducing overall supply chain complexity. The Commodity Manager will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and finance teams to drive supplier performance, innovation, and continuous improvement. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management** + Develop and execute commodity strategies that achieves quality, delivery, cost and inventory targets within respective commodities + Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to support innovation and cost reduction. + Leverages spend across the platform to negotiate agreements with suppliers of assigned global commodities ensuring that the best total cost is realized. + Utilizes 80/20 mindset to establish strategies and reduce supply base complexity for assigned commodities. This also includes identifying opportunities for product complexity reduction + Manage global supply base and incorporate regular supplier business reviews with the mindset of improving supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness) **Cost Management & Risk Mitigation** + Analyze cost drivers and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities. + Monitor and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, financial, and logistical factors. + Lead value engineering and cost-reduction initiatives across the pneumatics platform. **Cross-Functional Collaboration** + Partner with engineering and product development teams to align sourcing strategies with product roadmaps and new technologies to gain competitive advantage. + Support new product introductions (NPIs) by ensuring supplier readiness and capacity. + Work closely with quality and operations to resolve supplier issues and drive corrective actions. **PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS** Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, thinks independently, shows initiative, anticipates and prevents problems, mechanical aptitude, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Ability to work through conflict and see resolutions. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to interface effectively with suppliers and employees while maintaining a strong customer satisfaction orientation. Ability to travel between business units and supplier locations. **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:** + BS degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline + At least 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain/Commodity Management in a manufacturing environment + Experience in iron/aluminum casting, metal fabrication and machining preferred + Experience in managing a global supply base + Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus + Demonstrated Project Management Skills + Excellent analytical, excel and computer skills are required The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the essential duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
