OVERVIEW Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist II to become part of our growing Commissioning team in Kanata, Ontario, Canada. Basic office hours are 8:00 am ET to 5:00 pm ET, Monday thru Friday and is a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 2 days / week in the office. Occasional overtime could be needed with short notice. This position will also require some travel. Salary range for this position is $85,500.00 - $104,000.00 CAN. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience WHAT YOU'LL DO Plan, coordinate, perform and oversee detailed field commissioning services, assessments, and studies for all types of facilities/systems including the following: laboratories, nuclear spaces, hospitals, clean rooms. Generate commissioning plans and schedules; write commissioning specifications; develop commissioning installation checklists and functional test procedures; verify and validate commissioned systems controls and equipment; document commissioning process, develop final commissioning report, and develop systems manuals. Frequent travel to project/client locations is required with possible international travel. Communicate with clients and project teams. Lead onsite teams in execution of the commissioning process REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering OR a (2) Year Technical Associates Degree from an accredited institution with practical commissioning, controls, or testing experience. Five (5) years or more experience in the design or commissioning of building systems such as: HVAC (air and hydronic), controls, plumbing, laboratory equipment fire protection, security, and/or electrical systems. Optional experience that will also be considered: Experience in the design or commissioning of bio-containment laboratory facilities (BSL3, BSL3Ag, BSL4) Experience in the design or commissioning of other types of high-tech, mission-critical facilities Experience with HVAC controls systems and protocols (e.g. JCI, Siemens, ALC, BACnet, Modbus, etc) Experience with construction administration PEng, BCxP, CxA Ability to travel to project/client locations located in Canada and internationally Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier. Client projects for this position require Canadian Citizenship Be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point). Familiarity with AutoCad and/or Revit will be considered an asset. Possess, or be able to obtain, a Canadian security clearance. Must be able to work as a member of a close team and be able to work independently as necessary. Have good organizational and planning skills with the ability to direct a team through the execution of the commissioning process. Have strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience coordinating with owners and contractors, as well as the ability to lead project meetings are necessary skills. Have the ability to generate accurate, detailed reports. Have the ability to read and understand building drawings, specifications, and submittals. Have knowledge of controls systems and control sequences. Achieve commissioning certification under ASHRAE, ACG and/or BCA within the first three years of engagement. Bilingual (English & French) is a plus PERKS Robust Employee Referral Program.
