As a Commis 2, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the culinary operations in the kitchen are efficient, organized, and in compliance with the highest standards. This position requires you to support the preparation and cooking of dishes, maintain hygiene and cleanliness, and contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen.

What will I be doing

\n

This role is crucial in supporting the Senior Chefs to deliver exceptional dishes that exceed guest expectations, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and consistency throughout kitchen operations. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

\n\nAssist in the preparation and organization of ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, and other preparatory tasks as directed by Senior Chefs.\nFollow established recipes and preparation guidelines to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of food.\nParticipate in the cooking of basic dishes, such as soups, sauces, salads, and other menu items, under the guidance of the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.\nMaintain an organized and clean workspace, ensuring all utensils, tools, and equipment are in proper working condition.\nAdhere to hygiene, sanitation, and food safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of ingredients and food items.\nAssist with receiving, checking, and storing deliveries, ensuring the correct products are received and stored properly.\nHelp maintain inventory levels for your designated section and communicate any stock shortages or needs to the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.\nAssist in the preparation of mise en place, ensuring that all ingredients and components are ready for service.\nParticipate in minimizing food waste by following proper portion control and stock rotation procedures.\nEnsure all food items are prepared according to standard recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.\nAssist with the cleaning and upkeep of kitchen equipment and tools, ensuring they are ready for use at all times.\nWork closely with other kitchen staff, including Commis 1, Commis 3, and the rest of the team, to ensure timely meal preparation.\nAttend training sessions and kitchen meetings to improve your culinary skills and knowledge.\nDemonstrate a proactive approach in taking on additional tasks and responsibilities to support kitchen operations.\nMonitor and maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment by following all health and safety guidelines.\nEnsure that perishable items are stored and labeled correctly to prevent spoilage.\nPrepare requisitions for supplies and food items for your section and assist with the proper handling of food deliveries.\n

\n\nBasic understanding of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.\nPrevious experience in a kitchen, ideally in a similar role.\nStrong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other departments.\nAbility to work efficiently and stay calm under pressure, particularly during busy service periods.\nAttention to detail, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of all dishes.\nA passion for learning and a strong desire to improve culinary skills.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred; specialized culinary training or qualifications are highly desirable.\nPhysical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen equipment or supplies as necessary.\nExcellent knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment.\nFlexibility to work various hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays, as required by the operational needs of the hotel.\nA positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative team.\n\n

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

\n\nLuxury hospitality experience in a similar role\nAbility to work a variety of shifts including weekends, days, afternoons and evenings.\n\n
