Commercial Risk UK Chief Broking Officer To be an influential member of the Commercial Risk (CR) UK leadership team and lead CR UK broking strategies and resources. What the day will look like Business Leadership + Set the overall direction and goals for Placement strategy including Broking and Market Management fully aligned to CR UK strategy and objectives + Set culture and ensure Aon clients are at the heart of business propositions and practices, and are treated fairly and ethically, in all that we do. + Develop and execute on plan to achieve revenue targets associated with the broking levers + Ensure effectiveness of the Aon’s broking organisational structure and its alignment CR UK’s geographic and segmentation organisation. + Work with the Global Broking Centre (GBC) and AUM to jointly develop strategies and plans aligned to business goals and ensure financial and non-financial resources are prioritised. + Create a placement resourcing model and ensure that resources are appropriately prioritised across CR UK business. + Creation and communication of parameters for involvement of mono-line broking specialists, London market, GBC, FAC and other specialty teams + Ensures broking practices undertaken in the UK and colleague conduct is compliant with relevant legal and regulatory requirements and wholly consistent with Aon policies, values and behaviours. People Leadership + Create and lead the CR UK Broking leadership team and management structure + Provide inspirational leadership and direction to the UK placement team(s) responsible for the delivery of broking strategies + Conduct regular communications to brokers to assure alignment to strategy + Support in achieving the business performance targets. + Act as a spokesperson in the market for Aon in a manner wholly consistent with Aon policies, values and behaviours. + Actively engage colleagues in the development of strategy, structure and culture, ensuring colleagues are appropriately graded, rewarded and recognised for their contribution (as evidenced through the Aon Engagement Survey). + Develop talent retention, succession, acquisition and development strategies. Deal making + Lead from the front in relation to client and new business broking exercises with innovation and strategic broking thought leadership + Act as the point person and share accountability with Segment Broking Directors (SBDs) and Market Broking Directors (MBDs) to target and deliver renewal and new business placement results for individual clients and to support claims payment, bring the whole of Aon’s leverage to bear on behalf of our clients + Lead and support national insurer negotiations and relationship management providing continuous communication to (MBDs) to ensure regional alignment with national agreements + Oversee the role out and utilisation of analytical tools to support placement initiatives + Improve broking processes for better client results Market insights, MI and Structured data strategies + Provide client market insight communications on a regular basis by segment, sector and geography + Provide analysis to CR UK leadership team and Business Leader committees External market + Analyse competitor market performance and premium rate and claims performance for CR UK clients by line of business, insurer, and product/proposition with the priority being to demonstrate long term client retention, satisfaction and to help drive proactive strategic changes in broking approach. + Improve the data and sharing of data with CR UK exec, HoO / BU leader team, client team, and project management teams to support carrier negotiations, a common understanding of national and local carrier / book of business performance and client benchmarking. + Create strategy to ensure brokers and broking processes are fully supporting structured data capture of all data required to support product and proposition management, benchmarking, risk insight to collect and analyze broking data by geography and segment to drive a better result for our clients and in support of UK growth strategies. + Ensure completeness of broking pipeline data to improve market management and carrier insights. Pricing and profitability + Help to create and articulate a simple fair and consistent strategy in relation to remuneration received from insurer + Assure comparable commission levels by line of business (minimum commission strategy). Engage in negotiations with carriers where necessary. + Decrease leakage with regards to agreed insurer remuneration levels/ implement necessary systems to prevent leakage occurrence. + Engage with UK Finance to ensure appropriate financial reporting is in place in respect of Broking results. Proposition and Product Development + Drive strategy for facilities and their utilisation for all sectors and segments where there is a potential to increase client value and to achieve the best result for clients dependent upon market dynamics from time to time. + Identification and execution of proposition / product development opportunities, taking into account the strategies of Aon both locally and globally. + Provide accountability for ensuring that broking leaders have processes and measures in place to deliver and supervise the performance of any proposition, product or placement initiatives + Drive distinctive Aon only products for clients that help us to differentiate ourselves to retain and win clients. + Work with client, technical and claims teams to build a strong feedback loop which includes a view of insurer and competitor offerings feeding into product and proposition development + Support the business in delivering good outcomes for retail customers by ensuring all aspects of the design and delivery of proposition, product or placement adhere to Consumer Duty cross cutting rules in 1) acting in good faith towards retail customers, 2) avoid causing foreseeable harm and; 3) enable and support retail customers to pursue their financial objectives. Compliance with regulatory requirements and business procedures + Certified colleague – Set and direct the overall strategy and client proposition within Commercial Risk UK. Work alongside the CR UK Leadership team to support the head of CR UK in delivering their management and oversight responsibilities. Undertake all reasonable steps to discharge responsibilities under SM&CR. + Promote compliance with Aon UK Ltd and Aon global policies and procedures throughout the broking function and find opportunities for improvement + Ensure the function is monitoring and maintaining standards of business conduct consistent with Aon UK Ltd legislative and regulatory requirements + Consider the impact and implications of key legal and regulatory developments in collaboration with Law and Compliance functions + Resolve and review the broking function risk profile and ensure the function is run within the risk appetite thresholds set by the Aon UK Limited Board + Undertake all reasonable steps to discharge your responsibility under SM&CR Skills and experience that will lead to success + Market experience across all CR UK segments including consumer and SME and across all lines of insurance including specialty lines + In-depth knowledge of leading a substantial, diverse business, including budgetary management skills. + Strategic leadership skills. + In-depth knowledge of and experience in the insurance industry. + Well developed knowledge of FCA regulations including GI Pricing and upcoming Consumer Duty rules. + Extensive network within the insurance market at senior level. + Excellent leader and manager of professional staff, with strong delegation skills. + Commercial foresight and negotiation skills of the highest order. + Stong interpersonal skills, capable of dealing with domestic, multinational and global clients, business partners and external bodies. + A reputation for acting ethically at all times and with integrity + FCII / ACII / Degree educated + Significant general management experience in a leadership role in insurance, or related industries or role specific functional experience.
