The Business

The project environment in Smart Infrastructure (SI) consists of Electrification & Automation as well as Grid Software business. These are global business units with a complete portfolio offering in electrification and automation, grid control, meter data management and consulting, characterized by a strong presence in relevant geographies and vertical markets. SI serves its customers with products, systems, solutions and services to enable and drive transformation of electrical networks through IoTzation, innovation and disruption.

Role Headline

Responsible for the management and completion of all commercial/financial tasks needed to contribute to the project and ultimately business success, including but not limited to:

Responsibilities of the Role

• Accuracy of project books and records, including recording of such in the appropriate systems (e.g. SAP). Project controlling and reporting. 

• Supports the Project Manager (PM) and ensures that the financial results are managed according to set targets and with due professional care.  

        Optimization of the project gross profit, cash flow and assets and financing instruments.

• Actively communicates with customer's commercial representatives and manages the solution of commercial issues.

• Together with the PM proactively executes contract and claim management in the project, including involvement and cooperation with the assigned  

         contract manager.

• Supports the PM in identifying, evaluating and assessing risk and opportunities, strategies and response activities – taking over the full responsibility for 

         all commercial risks and opportunities.

• Supports the PM regarding the selection of partners / subcontractors. 

• Represents the project in the relevant decision boards internally and externally.

• Agrees targets with commercial project staff and delegates defined responsibilities and authority.

• Leads commercial project team members to act according to the Business Conduct Guidelines and establishes a culture of trust and integrity. 

• Ensures compliance with the LoA and PM@Siemens guidelines for all commercial aspects.

In addition to the CPM responsibilities the candidate is also expected to support the BU Controller with general reporting and controlling requirements for the SI EA and SI GSW business units, as and when required. 

Qualification and Experience:

• Completed bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent).

• Professional experience in various commercial functions, incl. commercial project management

• 5 – 7 years of experience within the project environment, preferably including experience dealing with solution projects, software and licensing content 

        as   well as projects with foreign exposure (cross-border)

• Knowledge in accounting and controlling.

• Detailed and advanced knowledge of financial and accounting regulations.

• Contracts management experience preferred (NEC3/Fidic)

• Experience on C-level Projects advantageous

• Ability to work under pressure and in an environment with tight deadlines

• Must have a high stress tolerance and ability to manage complex project matters with both industrial and governmental customers

• Must be adaptable and willing to learn/get involved.

• Must have excellent stakeholder management skills

• Strong Business Acumen

• Strong motivation and drive to optimize performance (incl. process improvements)

• Good analytical skills and attention to detail

• Willing to travel within SA and Africa
