Commercial Electrician – MV Terminations Specialist

Position SummaryABM Industries is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Commercial Electrician with specialized expertise in medium voltage (MV) terminations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with MV systems, infrared (IR) thermography on low voltage (LV) systems, and a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Perform commercial electrical installations including lighting, panels, switchgear, breakers, and power distribution equipment. Install, inspect, and test medium voltage (MV) cable terminations including live front, load breaks, dead breaks, and splices on 5, 15, 25, and 35kV rated cables. Plan layout and install electrical wiring, conduit, and fixtures based on specifications and codes. Conduct testing and troubleshooting of low and medium voltage systems. Read and interpret blueprints, panel schedules, and technical documentation. Maintain accurate records of work performed and ensure compliance with safety standards. Assist with IR scans and reporting as needed. Lead or train junior electricians and technicians as needed. Travel to customer sites (up to 25%) for inspections and testing. Complete Job Hazard Analyses including arc-flash and shock risk assessments. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of relevant electrical experience preferred. Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. Proven experience with MV cable terminations (load breaks, dead breaks, splices). Familiarity with IR scanning and diagnostic equipment is a plus. Knowledge of NETA testing standards and NFPA70E electrical safety practices is preferred. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions. Must be 18 years of age or older. Preferred Skills Experience with commercial and industrial electrical systems. Ability to isolate defects in wiring and electrical components. Strong understanding of lockout/tagout and hazardous energy control procedures. Ability to use hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and PPE. Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills. Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour (based on experience and location). Paid overtime opportunities.
