Commercial Global Category Manager Transportation & Logistics

This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic sourcing initiatives for transportation and logistics services across the global Science & Diagnostics business. The position will lead supplier strategy, performance management, and contracts. negotiations, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to ensure a reliable, compliant, and cost-effective logistics network that supports business continuity and operational excellence.This includes oversight of cold chain logistics, hazardous materials handling, time-sensitive deliveries, and adherence to international trade regulations, including customs, import/export controls, and biological sample compliance.
This is a Hybrid role, where the ideal candidate will be located near either of our New York City, Fountain Valley, CA or Loveland, CO Hubs. The Target Pay Range for this position can be between $105K - $132K annually. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Strategic Sourcing & Category LeadershipDevelop and deploy a global category strategy using the Mars Strategic Sourcing Methodology (MSSM)Conduct market intelligence and supplier capability analysisImplement regional/global sourcing strategies in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholdersEnsure category compliance with policies, sustainability standards, and supplier code of conductEstablish and manage long-term logistics provider relationshipsSupplier Performance & Relationship Management (SPRM)Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, pricing, and service level agreementsLead Quarterly and Monthly Business Reviews (QBRs/MBRs) to monitor performance and ensure accountabilityIdentify and develop diverse supplier partnershipsResolve supplier issues and manage escalations effectivelyStakeholder Collaboration & InfluenceBuild strong internal relationships across operations, labs, and leadership teamsServe as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on sourcing and category strategyLead and participate in cross-functional sourcing and efficiency initiativesAlign sourcing strategies with business goals and stakeholder prioritiesValue Creation & Cost OptimizationIdentify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements across transportation and logisticsLead cost-out programs to deliver a minimum of 5% P&L annual savingsBenchmark costs and lead should-cost modelingDrive procurement excellence and lead enhancements in Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processesMeasure, track, and report savings and value contributionInnovation & Continuous ImprovementEngage in upstream supplier innovation effortsFrame commercial models and supplier-driven innovations to create long-term valueCollaborate with other segments and functions to identify synergiesInfluence stakeholders to align with regional and global sourcing strategiesEducation and ExperienceMinimum Qualifications5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management experienceExpertise in logistics and transportation procurementExperience in regulated industries (healthcare, diagnostics, pharma, etc.)Strong project and change management capabilitiesAbility to travel 10–15% based on business needsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Operations, or related fieldGlobal procurement experience, preferably in laboratory or healthcare logisticsFamiliarity with cold chain, hazmat, and biological sample handling regulationsFluent in French or German is a huge plusKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesProven ability to drive sourcing strategies and deliver measurable savingsStrong commercial acumen and contract negotiation skillsAbility to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environmentsExcellent stakeholder management and communication skillsStrong analytical, organizational, and decision-making capabilitiesTravelWill there be notable travel in this position?
