Job Description

Moranbah North Mine has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Finance Specialist to join the team on a permanent basis, based in Moranbah, QLD. The Commercial Finance Specialist will support operational leadership team members, by bringing an innovative financial lens to various operational decisions.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will see you:

Develop commercial insights to assist site leadership and operational teams in making better value accretive decisions for the operation.Performing cost assessments for variance reporting with key recommendations and improvements noted.Facilitating, supporting, and enabling accurate and reliable forecasting and budgeting processes considering risks and opportunities.Key areas will be financial analysis, reporting, governance, and controls as well as commercial input into operational continuous improvement.Provide business case modelling support for on-site SIB capital, make recommendations on capital expenditure decisions to the disciplines.Collaborate with discipline to develop risk register, proactively providing financial evaluation (cost/capital) of risk mitigation strategies.Provide commercial input, analysis, and recommendations to the Commercial Team.Provide discipline-specific financial reports and analysis.Support tracking of discipline financial performance against plan, enriching financial reports with operational commentary discussed with disciplines.Facilitate in-depth discussion of deviations from plan, identifying and communicating operational root causes to financial performance.Empower discipline managers with the necessary reporting tools to make informed decisions relating to asset reliability, asset life cycle management and total cost of ownership regarding equipment and assets under their control.Identify Commercial improvement opportunities, enabling effective partnering.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Postgraduate/Tertiary qualifications within a relevant field (Business Accounting, Finance, Economics).Knowledge of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation is desirable.Integrated ERP system experience (SAP).Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, and be proactive in a complex environment with strict timelines.Strong levels of rigor and demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness to solving problems.Experience dealing with complex commercial finance projects within a large organisation.
