Role Dimensions

Diageo Commercial Finance teams are central to delivering key business objectives and targets across the P&L, Balance Sheet and broader market share. The teams are respected business partners to their stakeholders inside and outside of the function and work to shape the future of the customer and overall Channel.

The purpose of the Commercial Finance Manager is to partner with all key business stakeholders including commercial teams (Sales & Marketing) to drive business performance. You will provide the focus and precision to ensure the market is on the right track to deliver the targets, act as a leader during volatile and uncertain times and help to unlock growth potential and ideas. You will support and challenge the delivery of our financial and commercial targets by working closely with all the head of functions and commercial leaders.

This role is part of our Benelux & Nordics Finance team. A significant part of the accounting operations is performed by GBO Budapest and Bangalore. This makes our Commercial Finance Manager role unique as you can fully focus on the delivery of the strategy and drive performance holistically.

This role looks after the Off Trade channel in Denmark (Retail) and the On Trade for Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. The role is dynamic as it covers different sales channels and different countries. From managing challenging retail negotiations with customers in Denmark, to working in a cross functional team on festival deals and driving transparency on investments in the full value chain in ONT where we sell to Wholesalers that then sell on-wards to HoReCa outlets.

Besides being the finance leader for the above channels, you will also take on an important leadership role in the Denmark office. Together with the Commercial Head of Denmark, CR and Marketing Head you will drive the Diageo culture and role model the Diageo Dail Up behaviors. Injecting perspective and bringing the team on board with the 2023 strategy.

The role requires strong communication and influencing skills, as well as the ability to easily zoom out & zoom in between the bigger picture, external environment and internal details. We also have a large drive to simplify and systemize the processes and this role will be critical in delivering ground-breaking projects to improve the way of working.

Top Accountabilities

Functional:

Deliver robust business performance management: identify the drivers of historic and future P&L performance by brand and customer with focus on Volume, Mix, Price, Gross Profit, marketing investments that drives insight through the BPM process.

Actively participate in helping the commercial teams to understand performance through Demand Planning and Customer Performance reviews.

Provide support in formulating business strategy and converting strategies into useful plans, work closely with the Market Director to set the strategic priorities during annual planning.

Identify all critical business opportunities, risks and initiatives and provide financial analysis and insights to support decision making. You can carry out robust financial analyses to drive decisions.

Ensure efficient and effective resource allocation across trade and marketing investments

You facilitate the Annual Negotiations process in close collaboration with our Revenue & Growth Management team.

You have a good understanding on how Trade Investment works, knows how to influence the customer’s and brand’s profitability (Value Chains).

Support finance & commercial transformation projects, find opportunities to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness of finance activities, to improve our day to day operations.

Understanding of cashflow, ability to influence and optimize working capital.

Maintain a robust governance and control environment.

About You

University level degree, preferably in Finance or Business.

Minimum 6 years Finance and Commercial Finance experience.

Highly analytical and numerate. Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.

Business partnering skills, ability to influence senior partners.

Skilled to drive actions and decisions on the back of financial analysis.

Comfortable with dealing with ambiguity, complexity and working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and matrixed environment.

Managing Risk: Understands commercial risk and is able to develop and implement processes and controls to improve the pricing process and communications​.
