Purpose:
To provide the Central America Commercial team in CCA with key financial insights that will help drive overall business performance. This will be accomplished through rigorous financial analysis combined with amazing cross-functional and closed customer relationships/collaboration.
Market Context:
The Caribbean and Central America (CCA) market is a Diageo business unit that generates approx. £300m NSV. CCA is the most profitable market in LAC both in terms of absolute operating profit and margin. 90% of our NSV is USD invoiced.
CCA is a very dynamic market with many opportunities. Our geographical footprint covers 37 countries, where different languages are spoken and we have a population of 80m, 52m of whom are LDA+. Our model is a distributor based RTC with over 40 partners. We also handle several co-packing partnerships throughout the region, and Panama is home to our innovation technology center and principal warehousing operations.
The Scotch category accounts for approx. 70% of Total NSV, predominantly playing in the Premium and Super Premium segments; Diageo share of market in Scotch varies from 45% to 75% across the region
Decision Making:
This person will be responsible for independently developing financial analysis to drive the business insights.The role also requires the ability to concisely communicate these insights to key collaborators to influence decision-making in the complex and delicate business environment
Financial Responsibility:
This person will be responsible for the accuracy and robustness of the financial analysis, ensuring great integrity of the financial plan and reported financials for a very sophisticated and volatile business unit within CCA that encompasses 31 markets.Exposure to top management in CCA, LAC and Corporate is frequent and expected.
Leadership Responsibility:
Partner with commercial team to drive business performance through the provision of financial / commercial expertise and insights, whilst being responsible for the delivery of the financial targets and an effective control environment.
Although this person will not have any direct reports, they must be able to assume a leadership role in a cross-functional group.
Key Outputs/Deliverables :
Responsible for the monthly CAAP forecast including but not limited to:
Ensuring accuracy of information and timely delivery,
Look for constant improvement (simplification, etc.) and automation to increase the quality of the forecast.
Provide analysis and proactively find opportunities in A&P and Trade spend to improve CCA business performance, with a key focus on the following areas:
Analysis on A&P investment to drive business decisions and opportunities (both actual and plan)
Analysis and insights to drive Portfolio optimization – especially non-Scotch.
Provide Trade Spend investment recommendations and opportunities (both actual and plan), and review/approve claims submissions from commercial in line with commercial agreements.
Review and Analyze Measurement and Evaluation templates (M&E) of A&P and TS activities (Pre and Post)
Provide decision support analysis to assigned market/function to improve business performance, with a key focus on the following areas:
Pricing opportunities (both actual and plan)
Full value chain analysis
Investment optimization, including A&P measurement and evaluation.
Portfolio optimization
Distributor depletion and market Share analysis
COGS standard analysis current/next FY
Innovation financial support on Actuals/Forecast and new launches P&L validation
Support BPMs with market financials and decision making.
Provide financial support to the Commercial Team on:
S&OP Cycle and Join up Business Plan (JUBP):
Full review and analysis of all financials
Review and analyze depletions and stock level performance of key Markets (customer interaction required)
Provide relevant commentary including outside factors impacting Business Performance
Identify Risks and Opportunities on the P&L, Cash Flow and Balance Sheet of the Key Markets
Engage in Business Development Projects
Analyze and propose changes in route to market (distributor consolidation, channel opportunities, sourcing opportunities, etc.)
Any other ad-hoc analysis required.
Guidance to assigned areas of CARM/GAR and other control issues.
Market Pricing management including new prices approvals, NSV/EU monitoring vs AOP/Global minimums.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Degree or equivalent experience in Finance or Accounting or related field.
5+ years of proven financial experience in related roles and demonstrating increasing responsibilities.

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
SAP and BFC knowledge a plus
Other Planning Tools knowledge a plus (COGNOS Powerplay, SAP BW, other)
Must be fluent in English, with basic Spanish speaking ability a plus.
Must have good interpersonal and relationship skills to liaise with other departments, particularly the Commercial Team, as well as some customers.
Excellent influencing skills
Must be able to cope with high pressure and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
