About the Opportunity
As a Contract Manager within the EMEA Commercial Team based in Romania, you will lead contract and commercial negotiations on large-scale sales opportunities across South-East Europe and neighbouring regions. You will manage the contractual relationship both internally and externally with customers, ensuring full compliance and alignment with Ericsson’s business objectives.
The team
You will be part of a diverse and international team of Contract Managers located across Europe, Middle East, and Africa, reporting directly to the regional Contract Management Hub Head for Southern Europe and Eurasia. As part of this team, you will also benefit from access to the broad knowledge and ICT contract management expertise of your colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Strategy & Negotiations
- Develop and drive long-term contract strategies by identifying customer risk profiles, analysing deviations from critical terms and conditions, and recommending mitigation approaches including contract improvement plans.
- Lead contract evaluation and deal-specific contracting strategy, influencing terms and conditions to align with Ericsson’s commercial objectives.
- Draft, negotiate, and finalize contract terms, ensuring alignment with Ericsson business objectives and processes and financial business case based on the opportunity, solution, technology to be sold to the customer.
- Lead complex negotiations with customers, protecting Ericsson’s rights and securing profitability through robust contract scoping and risk management.
Contract Execution & Governance
- Ensure contract sign-off by authorized signatories and monitor adherence to contractual obligations throughout the lifecycle.
- Manage contract performance proactively by monitoring compliance, handling disputes, change control, and variations with critical actions on up sale through strong alignment with account team and wider stakeholders.
- Drive contract finalization and closure by resolving disputes, confirming contract completion, and documenting and sharing best practices on large complex contracts.
- Provide expert guidance on contracting matters and act as the primary point of contact for contractual issues.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with Key Account Managers (KAM), Delivery Responsible (CFR), legal, sales, and operational teams to secure financial results including margins, working capital, and upsell opportunities.
- Build strong relationships internally and externally, working with cross-functional teams across the EMEA region.
- Share knowledge and best practices within the Contract Management team to foster continuous improvement.
- Manage contract priorities across the full sales cycle from qualification, proposal, negotiation to contract execution.
- Adhere to Ericsson Sales Directives and Business Critical Terms & Conditions and Commercial / Financial Conditions securing sales and profitability commitments are achievable.
- Conduct contractual and commercial risk management and support long-term improvements in terms and conditions.
- Develop contract strategies in advance in the sales cycle, whether that be for new opportunities, engagements, renewals, or improvements required to secure fit for purpose, commercially sound contractual frameworks.
- Be able to define, orchestrate and align solid negotiation strategy which is built upon end-to-end view of the opportunity by having principle leading approach with strong ability to negotiate hands on with customers.
- Be able to develop a local country contract database enabling focused Contract Governance discussions driving business results, focus on priorities and risks to be managed on a periodic basis with account, legal, business control, domains, and broader stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in Contract Management, Project Management, or Sales within B2B enterprise environments, preferably in the telecom or IT sector.
- Proven track record in negotiating complex technology-led contracts with customers involving hardware, software, services, and digital transformation projects.
- Strong understanding of contract terms, commercial risk, and financial implications.
- Experience working in multicultural and international business environments.
- Experience negotiating with both public and private sector customers.
- WorldCC / IACCM certification or equivalent is a plus.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence and lead internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
- Fluent in Romanian and English; knowledge of other relevant languages is a plus.
- Proficient with MS Office tools.
