Commercial Analyst (Midstream)

Primary Purpose:

Financial stewardship for Midstream expansion commercial activities such as annual budget preparation, forecasting, budget deviations and variances, economic models for new growth projects, governance of capital allocation (from project approval to execution of projects), and economics to support sustaining projects, including periodic reviews of progress and contingencies of deployed capital.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Accumulate, review and communicate project financial information provided by multiple data sources and individuals. Reporting information includes, but is not limited to: Project Cash Flow Forecast, Project Financial Variance Reports, Project data required for Quarterly Business Reviews, ad-hoc financial and asset performance analysis and data requests.Develop business financial models for new capital projects and/or commercial/business transactionsAssist commercial groups with budgeting and forecastingSet up cost tracking systems including AFE tracking and reporting, budgets, forecasts, actual costs, accruals, and cash flows.Ability to analyze financial information and recognize significant deviations or variances, trends and irregularities and develop plan to address.Submission of Expansion Project Authorization for Expenditure and Project Revision Notifications requestsApproval of expansion capital expenditure requests requiring senior management approvalApproval of Accounting reconciliations for reimbursable projectsUnderstanding of the market and the commercial environmentReview, edit and validate deal analysis presentations and supporting materials used by senior management by working closely with commercial and/or business development teams on proposal generationPut together presentations as needed for management or board reviewsWork individually or as part of a team in a consultative manner

Position Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Finance and/or Accounting preferred) or higher

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

Minimum of 1-3+ years working knowledge of midstream industry (gathering/processing, natural gas transportation and storage, NGLs) Experience with financial modeling and planning within energyPrevious experience in deal analysis and commercial contractingExperience with cost and schedule control systems a plus

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skillsMust possess strong analytical, forecasting, planning and reporting skillsAdvanced proficiency level in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong spreadsheet skills, working with large amounts of dataFamiliarity with financial metrics and terminologyMust be self-motivated; capable of performing tasks with minimal supervisionAbility to communicate effectively with all levels within the organizationMust be flexible and able to work effectively with a team, handle multiple priorities simultaneously and focus on details

Working Conditions:

Extended work hours in cases of deadlines or major presentationsOccasional travel required, including day trips and/or overnight stays.
