**POSITION DETAILS**
The School of Arts & Sciences at Hunter College, the largest academic unit within the City University of New York (CUNY), is home to over 460 full-time faculty across 26 departments and 10 interdisciplinary programs. Serving more than 15,000 undergraduate and 4,000 graduate students, the school delivers the majority of Hunter’s general education curriculum and a wide array of disciplinary and pre-professional degree pathways. Hunter college also serves as a hub for the humanities action lab (HAL), a dynamic, collaborative initiative that brings together a growing nationwide coalition of universities, community organizations, and cultural institutions. Hal partners work collectively to create community-curated public projects that explore and address urgent social justice issues through the lens of history and memory.
We are seeking a Comm Broadcast & Multimedia Production Specialist who will support both the School of Arts And Sciences and the Humanities Action Lab (HAL) by creating and executing strategic communications for the school’s faculty, students, alumni, and events, as well as supporting HAL’s ongoing projects. This role will involve a blend of traditional media, social media, content creation, and community outreach to engage both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will also have a strong creative vision for promoting key initiatives and events across these two areas and will be able to produce multi-media/video content as part of their role.
Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
• Conceptualizing and creating compelling social media content (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok) to highlight faculty, students, alumni, and events from the School of Arts and Sciences and promote HAL’s projects on social justice and participatory memory. Engage actively with followers, moderating comments, and responding to inquiries.
• Filming, editing, and producing videos for promotional content, events, and interviews that showcase key figures, events, and initiatives at the School of Arts and Sciences and the Humanities Action Lab.
• Regularly updating websites for both the School of Arts and Sciences and the Humanities Action Lab with information on events, new resources, new partners, and other updates. Proactively seek out and gather information from faculty, students, and local partners to ensure that all content is current and relevant.
• Creating and circulating a regular newsletter to promote both school updates via platforms like Mailchimp or others.
• Developing and publishing "partner spotlights" and feature stories for both the School of Arts and Sciences and HAL on their respective websites.
• Assisting with the design of presentation materials (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva) for events, workshops, and conferences related to both the school and HAL.
• Building community within Hunter College by facilitating communication and collaboration across departments, particularly with faculty, students, and administrators.
• Seeking out and identifying opportunities to present both the School of Arts and Sciences and the Humanities Action Lab to the broader community, organizing events, and creating presentations to engage potential partners and stakeholders.
• Coordinating with Hunter College’s communications team to ensure consistency and alignment with broader college messaging.
• Performing other communications duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
• Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience or equivalent.
• Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks without losing attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships outside and within the organization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated success in managing social media pages, with at least 2 years of experience, specifically on Facebook and Instagram
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and WordPress
• Working knowledge of Hootsuite or equivalent, Adobe, Canva, and/or a demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technology quickly
• Proactive self-starter and collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
• Ability to create compelling visual storytelling, and to strategically combine words, images, and video footage for maximum impact
• Extremely organized and attentive to detail, with an ability to manage projects with multiple moving parts
• Alignment with HAL’s mission and social justice work
**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**
Provides expertise in digital and visual communications to support and advance the College's multimedia presence.
- Researches and identifies new multimedia platforms that advance College programs and initiatives
- Works closely with management to understand and produce effective message elements
- Creates and aligns various communication work products such as video, digital formats, layouts, graphics, web pages, and microsites to ensure consistency and effective messaging
- Assesses, enhances and manages the user experience on digital platforms including social media
- Collaborates with graphic designers, webmasters, and other information technology professionals to create comprehensive broadcast and multimedia communications
- Procures required internal and external resources and services and manages their utilization
- Performs related duties as assigned.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**
Salary commensurate with education and experience, within the approved hiring range ($87,978-$105,593).
