The Director of Faculty Success exists to support faculty in the Frist College of Medicine (FCoM), enabling them to be successful in their roles as educators. When faculty have the resources and training they need, FCoM students are more able to succeed. This role also maintains the faculty personnel information for FCoM medicine, and creates structures that govern faculty matters (such as appointment and reviews) in the College of Medicine.
Primary position responsibilities:
Identifies faculty development needs and gaps to create and identify professional development activities, and collaborates with faculty to organize and deliver programs and activities, including faculty workgroups, onboarding, training, workshops, mentorship, and seminars. Works collaboratively with the FCoM Department Chairs and the Dean’s Office to standardize faculty recruitment, promotion, reappointment, annual performance, and dismissal practices and correspondence in compliance with the FCoM policy. Provides operational support and guidance to faculty standing committees: Admission committee, Curriculum Committee, Appointments and Promotion Committee, Nomination and Elections Committee, Student Assessment and Promotion Committee. Provides faculty with consultation and educational resources in research and grant development, faculty development, and education scholarship. Oversees all aspects of the FCoM faculty database, files, and roster for internal and external reporting, monitors the controlled release of data and correspondence in faculty files, and interprets University policy concerning access to confidential information. Develops and implements internal and external communications related to faculty development and education research, including leverage of social media and other communication strategies to raise awareness of faculty development offerings and faculty accomplishments within education. Develops, monitors, and updates Faculty Success Unit Standard Operating Procedures. The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.
