Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In this role, you will manage delinquent accounts, resolve disputes, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure an efficient and effective collections process. Responsibilities: • Manage a portfolio of delinquent student loan accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of overdue balances. • Address and resolve disputes, payment discrepancies, and borrower inquiries, maintaining a thoughtful and empathetic approach. • Maintain comprehensive documentation of communications, payment agreements, and account updates within the company’s systems. • Collaborate with internal departments such as credit, legal, and customer service to streamline the collections process. • Develop and implement payment solutions that meet both company goals and borrower needs. • Monitor accounts to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate actions. • Utilize financial systems and tools to track account progress and generate reports for management. • Stay updated on relevant regulations and compliance standards in the collections industry. • Handle sensitive information securely and in accordance with company policies. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related financial role. • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business or finance is advantageous. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a focus on professionalism and empathy. • Strong negotiation abilities to create effective payment solutions. • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills. • Ability to analyze and resolve disputes or account issues effectively. • Familiarity with financial or collections systems is preferred.
