Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Collections Manager to lead our Hospital Billing (HB) collections team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, particularly in non-government payer collections. This individual will bring a team-oriented mindset, a solution-driven attitude, and a proven ability to motivate and develop staff. The manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving performance, identifying process improvement opportunities and payer trends, and ensuring compliance with payer and regulatory guidelines.
Position Responsibilities:
Demonstrates A thorough knowledge and understanding of the accounts receivable cycle and billing and collections policies and procedures.
Monitors productivity of staff and develop innovative methods to increase output without sacrificing quality. Develop work standards and set productivity goals.
Continually informs and in-service staff as to the appropriate adjustment policies according to hospital, department and governmental insurance regulations/policies.
Ensures Charity care accounts are identified and appropriately documented for audit purposes.
Ensures caveat and estate claims are referred to the appropriate area and proof of claims are filed timely.
Reviews and authorizes allowances and adjustments in accordance with department policy. Refer appropriate write offs to director for authorization.
Compiles documents for internal and external audits.
Responsible for extended business office and collection agency monitoring of activities.
Insures payer updates and managed care matrix is distributed to the appropriate business office staff.
Maintains all governmental and insurance bulletin manuals and notifications to keep current with billing requirement.
Ensures staff is made aware of all collection related changes to payer procedures.
Identifies interdepartmental processes flow problems, makes suggestions for positive changes in the department and develops action plans to implement these improvements.
Prepares in-service training for staff members as required.
Attends department meetings and in-service training programs to remain aware of pertinent developments and/or changes in billing/collection, discharge and related policies, procedures and systems.
Qualifications:
High School graduate, college degree preferred
Epic experience preferred
Five years management/supervising experience requiredBenefits
