Collections Assistant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under the general supervision of the Collections Manager, the Collections Assistant performs critical accounting and billing functions for RiseBoro Community Partnership, a non-profit developer and property manager providing affordable housing to thousands of tenants across New York City. Specific responsibilities include: · Submit lease renewals to subsidy agencies and track approvals with monthly follow up for any unpaid increases. · Coordinate with Leasing Manager/Code Compliance team on Section 8 lease renewals status to ensure timely contract rental increases. · Submit rent increases for PBV section 8 units/properties in accordance with each subsidy agency requirement and track approvals. · Mail Urgent Arrear Notices to all residents on a bi-monthly basis. · Assist the Collection Managers Team with Security deposit reconciliations of all properties across. · Respond to residents with all utilities timely. · Assist tenants with registration for Rent Café on-line rental payment process and troubleshoot issues. · Serve as back up for recording and banking of rent receipts and subsidies. · Analyze rental ledger and maintain tracker. · Participate in departmental project meetings as directed by the Collections Manager · Make/request adjustments to tenant ledgers and submit to Collections Manager for approval. · Perform administrative responsibilities including updating the property management/accounting system portal with the most current information/documentation · Create profiles for new tenancies within the Yardi Systems portal and track tenant move-outs · Support Collections Manager in managing commercial accounts. · Other related duties as assigned by the Collections Manager or a designee COMPETENCIES · Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping or accounting · Ability to work independently and collaboratively · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Yardi · Excellent oral and written communication skills · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail · Strong customer service and interpersonal skills · Ability to problem solve and manage time effectively · Self-motivated, proactive, eager to learn, and able to take direction · Bilingual Spanish and English proficiency preferred · Commitment to RiseBoro’s mission, vision, and values · Commitment to work that supports communities that have experienced systemic oppression and bias preferred (i.e. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.) EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE · Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant field and a minimum of two (2) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred · Associate’s Degree in accounting or relevant field and at least five (5) years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping · Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills may be considered qualifying Qualifications EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY (EEO)/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICY STATEMENT It is the policy of RiseBoro to provide equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment.
