**What you will do in this role**
The **Collection and Remarketing Specialist** is responsible for managing overdue accounts related to vehicle financing, overseeing the repossession of vehicles, and coordinating their remarketing (sale or auction) for maximum profitability. This role combines strong communication, negotiation, and asset recovery skills with a deep understanding of the automotive market and industry regulations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Collections:**
**Debt Collection** :
+ Actively monitor overdue accounts for automotive loans, leases, or financing agreements.
+ Make inbound and outbound calls to customers to discuss overdue payments, offering payment arrangements or solutions to bring accounts current.
+ Document all collection efforts and interactions in the company's system, ensuring full compliance with the applicable regulations.
+ Negotiate payment terms and follow up on promises made by customers to pay outstanding balances.
+ Work with the legal or finance team when necessary to escalate accounts requiring litigation or further action.
**Customer Interaction** :
+ Maintain professionalism and empathy when dealing with customers facing financial hardship.
+ Assist customers in understanding their obligations while offering flexible payment solutions and options.
+ Resolve disputes or issues related to payments, account status, or vehicle status, escalating to supervisors if needed.
**Account Management** :
+ Monitor accounts to identify payment patterns and risk factors and take proactive steps to prevent delinquency.
+ Collaborate with customer service and risk management teams to identify and resolve issues that may affect the payment cycle.
**Vehicle Repossession & Asset Recovery:**
**Vehicle Repossession** :
+ Initiate and manage the repossession process of vehicles from customers who are unable to meet payment obligations.
+ Coordinate with third-party repossession agencies to ensure timely and compliant vehicle recovery.
+ Ensure that repossession activities adhere to state and federal regulations, including legal requirements for repossession notices and processes.
+ Conduct post-repossession inspections and ensure the vehicle is properly inventoried and stored.
**Asset Assessment** :
+ Assess the condition of repossessed vehicles, ensuring that all relevant details (such as mileage, condition, and market value) are accurately documented.
+ Work with the remarketing team to determine the best course of action for each vehicle (e.g., auction, dealership sale, or direct resale).
**Remarketing and Asset Disposal:**
**Vehicle Remarketing** :
+ Manage the sale of repossessed vehicles through various remarketing channels, such as auto auctions, dealerships, or online marketplaces.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with auction houses, used car dealers, and online sales platforms.
+ Ensure that vehicles are sold in a timely manner, with the goal of maximizing recovery and minimizing holding costs.
**Auction & Sales Coordination** :
+ Prepare vehicles for sale by ensuring they are clean, inspected, and accurately priced.
+ Coordinate the logistics for vehicle transport to auction sites or dealerships.
+ Track and report on vehicle sales performance, including auction results and recovery rates.
**Market Analysis & Pricing Strategy** :
+ Stay updated on automotive market trends, pricing fluctuations, and demand for specific vehicle models.
+ Adjust pricing strategies to ensure maximum return on recovered assets.
**Compliance and Reporting:**
**Regulatory Compliance** :
+ Ensure all repossession, collection, and remarketing activities comply with current legislation.
**Reporting** :
+ Generate and maintain reports on collections progress, repossession statistics, and remarketing outcomes.
+ Present findings and recommendations to senior management to improve recovery and asset management strategies.
**Skills and Qualifications:**
+ Strong negotiation and customer service skills, especially in challenging situations.
+ Knowledge of the automotive market, including vehicle valuation and auction processes.
+ Familiarity with collections software, CRM tools, and vehicle inventory management systems.
+ Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
+ Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and achieve KPIs.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Self-motivated and results-driven with a strong focus on improving recovery rates and minimizing asset loss.
