Co-Op Instrument Technician

Our work environment is inclusive, diverse, and guided by respect, ethics, and equal opportunities for all. **What we’re looking for:** The Co-Op instrument technicians are assigned to work with a qualified instrument technician to orient them to the specific job duties instrument technicians generally perform. They can perform instrument technician duties but not without the direct supervision and presence of a qualified instrument technician. The co-op program will last a duration of seventeen (17) weeks and is designed to assist students with developing understanding of specific applications of chemical manufacturing equipment and instrument technician job duties within a petrochemical facility. **What will be expected from you?** + **Shadow a qualified instrument technician performing the following duties:** + Complete a site Safety Orientation, and follow all safety, health, environmental and maintenance procedures. + Assure compliance with all applicable government regulations for health, safety, and environmental matters. + Installation, removal, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of instruments. + Diagnose malfunctions on various mechanical/electronic instruments and control systems: repair, overhaul, and calibrate instrument and control devices. + Able to interpret, understand, and utilize specification sheets from applications such as Intools. + Performs preventive maintenance and calibration to ensure accuracy of instrumentation consistent with the preventative maintenance program and equipment specifications. + Programs and repairs control system components (valves, transmitters, etc.) and other equipment. + Uses electronic testing and diagnostic tools necessary to maintain electronic telemetry and control systems; repairs, shop test, and calibration equipment as needed. + Follow site protocols for documenting work and equipment repair histories as applicable. + Performs clean-up of instrumentation work areas and areas where repair and maintenance tasks have occurred in the plant and units. + Communicate instrumentation needs to all levels of the organization. + Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives. + Assist other employees in accomplishment of Indorama company goals. + Follow instructions and perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor. + Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by company. + Participate in and complete company-required training programs. **What are we looking for in the Ideal candidate?** + **MUST BE** currently enrolled in a 2-year Associate Degree program of Instrumentation/Analyzer Technology. + **MUST BE** scheduled to graduate at the end of the semester for which they are applying to co-op. + GPA of 3.0 (or better) required. + Completion of DC Circuits, AC Circuits, and Flow and Measure Calibration courses for Instrumentation Technology required or completion of DC Circuits, Analytical Instrumentation, and General Chemistry courses for Analyzer Technology required. + In good academic standing or otherwise eligible for co-op opportunity through university/college. + Enrollment in the co-op class through the Instrumentation/Analyzer Technology program is preferred. + Maximum of two classes in addition to the co-op class is preferred. + Must be willing/able to climb stairways, ladders, and work at elevated heights of up to 250 feet above ground; stoop/bend as needed to perform task, and enter combined spaces, if required. Job duties may require individual to work in hot/cold/raining/other adverse weather conditions. + Must have or be able to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
