Job Overview

The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs to produce high-quality automotive parts. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, designing CNC programs, selecting appropriate tools, and ensuring that the machining processes are efficient and accurate. The CNC Programmer works closely with engineers, machinists, and quality control personnel to ensure that all parts meet the required specifications and standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

Develop and Optimize CNC Programs – Create, modify, and enhance CNC programs using CAD/CAM software to ensure parts meet engineering drawings and specifications while improving efficiency, tool life, and cycle times.Support Tooling and Setups – Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and fixtures; prepare clear setup sheets and instructions to guide machine operators.Ensure Accuracy and Reliability – Simulate and test CNC programs to verify tool paths, prevent collisions, and troubleshoot programming or machining issues.Collaborate Across Teams – Work closely with engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to ensure all parts meet performance and quality standards.Maintain Technical Records – Keep accurate and organized documentation of CNC programs, setup sheets, and tool lists.Train and Mentor Operators – Provide guidance, training, and support to machine operators on CNC program usage and best practices.

Education and Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree or technical certification in CNC programming, machining, or a related field required; a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is a plus.Experience: 3–5 years of CNC programming experience, ideally within the automotive or high-volume manufacturing industry.Technical Expertise: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD), G-code programming, and CNC machine operation.Machining Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tool technologies, material properties, and manufacturing best practices.Analytical Ability: Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining and programming challenges quickly and effectively.Attention to Detail: Commitment to accuracy in programming, documentation, and quality standards.
