Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position
An employee in this position will perform tasks defined by specifications, drawings, work instructions, and direction of supervisor directly related to the machining of both production and prototype parts made of various steel alloys, stainless steel, brass, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, engineering plastics, and magnetic materials.
Major Responsibilities - reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
+ Employees will do moderate-complex set ups and operate multi-axis lathes and mills and other related equipment holding extremely tight tolerances (+/- 2 microns) to customer drawing and quality specifications and MCE methods. Work is done in a low volume high mix environment.
+ Employees will train and assist CNC Machinist levels I and II with basic and complex set ups on multi-axis lathes and mills, and with sharpening tools on cutters and grinders
+ Employees will use advanced inspection equipment, ex. CMM and digital optical measuring
+ Employees will be able to write simple G&M (numerical) code programs.
+ Employees will be able to create setup kits and sheets to minimize setup time.
+ Employees will be able to machine workpiece collets to meet timing and true axial runout requirements.
+ Employees will be able to select tooling, speeds, and feeds for optimal CNC machining.
+ Employee will be able to sharpen cutting tools and rework holders.
+ Conduct 1st piece inspection and provide supporting quality documentation.
+ Use various hand tools, precision measuring equipment and associated gages and tooling.
+ Conduct preventative maintenance, 5S and housekeeping duties.
+ Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Hourly Rate depending on experience $25-$45 per hour
Qualifications
Education and Experience
+ High School diploma or equivalent is required. Trade school certification in Machining preferred.
+ 5 years experience machining low volume, highly engineered product with zero or little scrap, or 3 years experience with a trade school certification in Machining.
+ Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
+ 1 year experience writing simple G&M code programs
Successful Essential Skills
+ Excellent problem-solving skills; uses rigorous logic and methods to solve problems producing effective solutions to problem statements.
+ Strong technical skills. Ability to set up and run a variety of machines while holding very tight tolerances with limited direction creating quality parts to spec on short run parts (first part, good part). Primary equipment: CNC 5 axis Mill(s).
+ Strong machine shop math and complex blueprint reading skills, including GD&T.
+ Knowledge and use of a wide variety of precision measuring equipment.
+ Ability to write, read and comprehend G&M code programs
