At our Wadsworth location, we specialize in serving the industrial and oil and gas markets, producing high-quality rotary and rodless pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. Our dedicated machining team manufactures these components using a variety of materials, including ductile iron, aluminum, stainless steel, and specialized alloy materials for specific applications.
We pride ourselves on our high mix, low volume product offerings, which are characterized by extensive customization options. This unique approach leads to routine program edits, ensuring that we meet our clients' specific needs.
All operations are conducted in a fully climate-controlled facility that operates on two shifts, allowing us to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.
Basic Function/Responsibilities:
To safely operate, setup & produce quality components using various types of CNC mills & lathes and/or manual machines including, but not limited to,
+ Operate & setup one or more CNC machines simultaneously (may or may not be a 2:1 cell);
+ Select, replace & setup tooling;
+ Edit CNC programs (G-code or conversational);
+ Troubleshoot & correct machining issues;
+ Partner with maintenance to repair machines including calibration;
+ Ability to utilize CAD/CAM software preferred.
+ Ability to design & fabricate tooling/fixturing is preferred; and
+ Support rotation of machine assignments to foster effective cross-training.
Additional Responsibilities:
+ Keep safety as a primary focus by working safely, following safety policies & work instructions, asking for help, promptly reporting safety concerns & utilizing the Stop & Seek program.
+ Cross training on designated equipment utilizing the skills matrix for both setup & operation of CNC equipment.
+ Support training of all machinists.
+ Create & maintain setup sheets with process engineering.
+ Use the DNC to effectively load/save CNC programs.
+ Analyze tooling wear to aid in improving operational performance.
+ Generating or modify a program utilizing macros & variables.
+ Continuously observe machines, fixtures, peripheral equipment, gauging, materials, parts, etc., for obvious defects and/or malfunctions.
+ Perform machine specific tooling offsets of CNC machines.
+ Replace & adjust existing tooling in a tool rest/tool setter to maintain production within specifications.
+ Continuously monitor measured part dimensions against engineering print using standard inspection gauges including use of CMM, if discrepant utilize “Stop & Fix” procedures to correct immediately.
+ Accurately monitor & record data as requested for labor reporting & inventory control.
+ Positively & actively contribute to High Performance Teams by participating in Team Improvement Boards, problem solving & task completion.
+ Positively support change initiatives by actively contributing to & participating in Lean principles & Kaizen events.
+ Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning machines to maintain 5S+Safety approach. This includes fixtures, tooling, gauging & peripheral equipment.
+ Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.
+ High School diploma or equivalent.
+ CNC coursework completed through accredited Career Center or equivalent experience.
+ Ability to create & edit CNC programs for both G-code and/or conversational.
+ 7+ years of machining experience including but not limited to programming, tooling, gauging & machining methods.
+ Proficient understanding of computers & related software (Office365 products, etc).
+ Proficient understanding of blueprint reading.
+ Ability to adapt to changing roles & changing priorities.
Physical Requirements:
+ Frequent standing, reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping & handling.
+ Regular bending & twisting.
+ Regular manual lifting up 25 lbs. & up to 50 pounds with team-lift or crane-assisted.
+ Occasional walking.
