Cnc Machinist
**Assistant Manager - CNC Machining** **The Assistant Manager supports the CNC Manager in overseeing daily operations within the machine shop. This role is responsible for assisting with team leadership, production scheduling, workflow coordination, and mentoring CNC operators. The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC machining experience, strong communication skills, and a team-focused mindset.** **Responsibilities** + Help lead and mentor both day and night shift machinists to ensure consistent performance and support across all shifts. + Provide hands-on coaching, feedback, and support to promote high-quality, efficient work and continuous skill development. + Collaborate with the CNC Manager on team development efforts, including hiring, onboarding, and performance management. + Assist with scheduling machines and personnel to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. + Monitor productivity and quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and support data-driven decision-making. + Support production as needed using a wide range of equipment, including CNC lathes with live tooling, Y-axis, sub spindles, and multi-turret setups, CNC Swiss lathes, CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers, 5-axis machines, and manual mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and drill presses. + Use precision measurement tools (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gauges) and interpret technical blueprints to ensure product accuracy. + Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and contribute to maintaining clean, organized, and efficient workspaces. + Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing leadership to optimize workflows and support the development and implementation of new product processes. + Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations. + Set clear goals and expectations, holding team members accountable while fostering a culture of growth and recognition. + Manage day-to-day workflow, delegate responsibilities effectively, and ensure team productivity aligns with business priorities. + Communicate openly and consistently with team members and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment and collaboration. + Promote a positive work environment and proactively address performance issues or team conflicts. **Essential Skills** + 3+ years of experience in a CNC machining or manufacturing environment, including leadership or mentoring experience. + 5+ years CNC programming, setup, and operation. + 5+ years experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. + Solid problem-solving and organizational skills. + Familiarity with CAD/CAM packages and programming. + Familiarity with Word, Excel, and Outlook. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Associate degree in Precision Tooling. + Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis. **Work Environment** Work the 1st shift, Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime may occur on Fridays, requiring flexibility for additional preparation time before and after shifts. The team consists of 22 members across day and night shifts. The dress code is professional and suitable for a manufacturing environment.
