Role Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machining equipment, including making program edits on CNC machines. They will ensure components meet precise print dimensions and tolerances while using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and scales. The role requires maintaining a safe and organized work environment, contributing to safety and efficiency improvements, and accurately completing associated paperwork. The candidate should have 3-5 years of experience or have completed a community college or trade school machining program, have strong math skills, the ability to interpret mechanical drawings, and a solid understanding of G-code or conversational programming. Preferred experience includes working with cast materials, rigging, and machining of stainless alloys.
Responsibilities Include:
Setup and operation of CNC machining equipment
Ability to make program edits at the machine for CNC equipment
Machining of components to meet print dimensions and tolerances
Accurate parts measurement using tools such as, but not limited to outside micrometer, inside micrometer, depth micrometer, calipers (digital, dial and vernier), scales
Maintaining an organized and safe work environment and help to drive improvements in the work center that will lead to increases in safety and efficiency
Accurately completing all paperwork associated with tasks being performed
Accurate accountability for time on work orders
Keeping up to date with all required trainings
Working on a variety of parts and processes and may work across multiple machines
Can resolve most problems and questions within a defined set of parameters
Requirements:
Typically 3 – 5 years’ experience doing similar work
Understands and buys into a zero-accident safety culture expectationStrong shop math skills including arithmetic, conversion of fractions to decimals, basic trigonometry
Ability to read and interpret mechanical/production drawings including tolerancing
Strong understanding of G-code and/or conversational programming
Precision Measuring tools experience
Knowledge of fixturing and safe / effective work holding
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Experience working with cast materials
Experience with basic rigging and use of overhead cranes
Understanding of turning and milling insert geometries and grades
Understanding of basic cut conditions including appropriate feeds, speeds and depths of cut for different materials
Previous experience machining stainless alloys
Site Specific Details:
First shift positions Monday thru Friday, 06:30-1500
Second shift hours Monday thru Friday, 14:45-23:15
Overtime as required (required overtime will have 36-hour notice)
Location: Raleigh, NC.
