Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Construction Materials Lab Technician to join our geotechnical and materials testing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in laboratory testing of construction materials and a strong understanding of industry standards and quality systems. This role supports field and lab operations to ensure materials used in construction projects meet required specifications and regulatory standards.
ResponsibilitiesPerform laboratory testing on construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and grout.Prepare and test concrete cylinders for compressive strength.Conduct gradation and compaction tests on soils.Assist with nuclear density testing for soil compaction.Maintain accurate and detailed records of test results and observations.Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with industry standards.Follow quality control procedures and participate in internal and external audits.Support field technicians and engineers with data analysis and reporting.Essential SkillsMinimum 1 year of experience in construction materials testing.Familiarity with TxDOT testing procedures.Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry software.Additional Skills & QualificationsCertifications such as NICET or ACI are preferred.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.Work Environment
This position is within a small company of less than 10 employees, where you will work alongside one other Lab Technician. The role involves engaging with diverse and exciting projects, offering opportunities for hands-on experience and professional growth.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
