CGI is seeking a skilled WordPress CMS Developer to support a national organization with regulatory responsibilities across Canada. This is a dynamic, client-facing role ideal for a motivated developer with a strong foundation in WordPress development, system integration and CMS architecture. The role offers exposure to public sector digital modernization, including content governance, eCommerce and LMS integration.
Your future duties and responsibilities:• Lead the development and customization of WordPress-based CMS websites
• Serve as the principal WordPress developer for ongoing CMS support and enhancements
• Translate business and technical requirements into WordPress-based solutions (themes, plugins, templates)
• Optimize WordPress performance (caching, monitoring, updates, security patching)
• Support eCommerce functionality through WooCommerce and Stripe
• Assist in LMS integration (e.g., TalentLMS) for registration and course management
• Conduct technical audits, bug fixes, and performance tuning for existing environments
• Participate in discovery, content strategy, and taxonomy management (tagging, metadata, structure)
• Contribute to integration strategies (e.g., Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct, Power BI)
• Provide Tier 2/3 technical support during business hours and assist with issue triaging
• 3–5 years of professional experience in WordPress development
• Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience working with REST APIs for data integration
• Understanding of LMS platforms and plugin-based integrations (e.g., TalentLMS)
• Solid experience with WooCommerce and payment gateway configuration (e.g., Stripe)
• Familiarity with DigitalOcean or similar cloud hosting platforms
• Knowledge of AODA/WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance is a bonus.
• Comfortable with Git, version control and Agile project environments
• Strong analytical, documentation and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO) via Azure AD
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services and migration from DigitalOcean
• Exposure to content governance, metadata strategy, and taxonomy models
