Position Summary
CMC Project Management is part of Lilly Research Laboratories Product Research and Development organization. The CMC Project Management team leads the development and execution of integrated CMC strategies from portfolio entry through global submissions and approvals. The CMC Portfolio Analytics & Insights Team Lead will lead the transformation of CMC portfolio data into a strategic asset. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of CMC Project Management, this newly created leadership role is ideal for a business analytics expert with a strong command of data science, visualization, and decision intelligence — and a desire to apply those skills in a complex, science-driven environment.
This leader will build and lead a high-impact team responsible for portfolio analytics, forecasting, data infrastructure, and insight generation. The team’s mission is to enable data-driven decision-making, enhance operational agility, and elevate how we think, plan, and lead across the CMC organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Analytics & Insights
Develop and execute a data analytics strategy that supports CMC portfolio planning, investment prioritization, and resource optimization.
Design and implement scalable data infrastructure and visualization platforms to enable real-time insights.
Build predictive models and scenario planning tools to inform long-range planning and capacity forecasting.
Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership, using compelling data storytelling and visualization.
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify key business questions and deliver analytics solutions that drive impact.
Project Management Data Infrastructure & Governance
Establish robust data pipelines, governance standards, and quality controls to ensure reliable, scalable analytics.
Lead the development of dashboards and self-service tools that empower teams to explore and act on data.
Champion the integration of AI/ML, automation, and advanced analytics into portfolio management processes.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
Build and mentor a high-performing team of data analysts, visualization experts, and business translators.
Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning.
Serve as a thought leader in analytics strategy, influencing enterprise-wide initiatives and governance forums.
Basic Requirements
Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, Life Sciences) with 5+ years of experience in data analytics or portfolio strategy within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Proven expertise in advanced analytics, including data modeling, forecasting, simulation, and visualization.
Familiarity with CMC processes and deliverables
Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex data into strategic insights and recommendations.
Experience working with cross-functional teams to solve business problems using data-driven approaches.
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence technical and executive audiences.
Demonstrated success in leading analytics initiatives and managing complex stakeholder environments.
Additional Preferences
MBA, Master’s in Data Science, or equivalent business/analytics training.
Experience in a top-tier consulting firm or analytics-focused role in life sciences.
Proven leadership in building and scaling analytics or PMO functions.
Proficiency in tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
Prior supervisory experience with a strong track record in talent development and team building.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$151,500 - $222,200Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
