TLDR role summary: This is a very dynamic, strategic I.C. role, which requires someone to really wow the client so that we can build a cloud team around this person and ultimately expand into a large cloud program (migration/modernization). This person would help establish a strong foundation of cloud knowledge, with pockets of readiness for cloud proficiency, in part by conducting a cloud maturity assessment; authoring the client's cloud strategy; and operationalizing Agile mechanisms to drive hybrid planning and orchestration Job Description – CPL The Cloud Platform Lead (CPL) will implement the following deliverables and capabilities during a 6-month duration:
+ Maturity Mapping Deliverable: The CPL will start by mapping DFW's cloud current state; desired achievable to-be state (1-2 years); and desired ambitious to-be state (2+ years). This will help frame DFW's cloud strategy deliverable (below).
+ Cloud Strategy Deliverable: The CPL will proceed apace to a cloud strategy deliverable, which will map well-defined business outcomes to cloud-enabled technology capabilities and investments. The strategy will define how DFW should navigate to its achievable to-be state. Part of the Governance-Setting Package
+ Integration Management Capability: Once the strategic foundations are in place, the CPL will implement an 'Integration Management Capability' to promote identification of dependencies, risks, issues, and potential opportunities for re-use between on-prem and cloud-based solutions. Part of the Governance-Setting Package
+ Workload Identification Capability: The CPL will introduce a cloud assessment methodology and process for helping DFW to identify workloads with high cloud upside, for potential disposition to one of the major hyperscale's. Part of the Governance-Setting Package.
+ Introductory FinOps Capability: The CPL will define an introductory FinOps capability across the 3 T's – Tagging, Transparency, and Talking – to ensure cost-effective spend as the org scales its cloud footprint. This capability will enable managers of dev contracts to help govern auto-scaling and re-investment of cloud-savings toward high-value work. Part of the Governance-Setting Package.
+ Role-based Enablement & Upskilling: The CPL will define target state roles with enablement initiatives that help DFW team members adopt and excel in those new roles. The CPL will help design and deliver role-based, semi-customized training and communications that ready DFW for the demands of cloud scale.
+ Working Backlog: To provide adequate flexibility and ensure maximum value for the client, the CPL will create and manage a working backlog of deliverables & capabilities, prioritizing those listed above and potentially including deliverables & capabilities not included herein. The CPL will continuously assess & advise the project sponsor about decision trade-offs for implementation of the working backlog.
