About the Team:

The Cloud Patching and Backup team provides core management services to UKGs large cloud datacenter, and on-premise environments. We play a critical role in the maintenance, security and reliability of UKG’s products.

About the Role:

As a Cloud Engineer within the Patching and Backup teams, you will bring deep Linux systems expertise to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our large-scale hybrid environment—spanning cloud platforms and global data centers.

This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of our systems infrastructure and ensuring maximum uptime and resilience through proactive patching, automation, and backup strategies.

Serve as the Linux subject matter expert within the Cloud Engineering team, driving best practices and technical direction.

Automate Linux patching processes to reduce toil and prevent recurring issues, leveraging your expertise in systems management.

Collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate patch planning, manage package repositories, and ensure timely deployment of critical updates.

Provide guidance on high-availability strategies and zero-downtime initiatives to support UKG’s uptime commitments.

Design and implement automation for Linux system backups and recovery, using tools such as Veeam in both cloud and on-premise environments.

Participate in an on-call rotation, offering support during American time zones and responding swiftly to incidents or system alerts.

About You:

Basic Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration, deployment, and troubleshooting.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go).

- Strong knowledge of package management, system upgrades, and configuration.

- Expertise in volume and filesystem management.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Flexibility to work some evening hours (Eastern Time) and occasional weekends for planned activities and on-call duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working in public cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS)

- Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or similar platforms.

- Experience with Veeam or CommVault for backup management.

- Familiarity with Tanium or comparable patching and systems management tools.

- Experience with DevOps tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, or related technologies.

- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments.

- Familiarity with Windows Server administration and heterogeneous environments.

The pay range for this position is $70,100.00 to $100,000.00, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
