Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to be on site at least twice a week at our Reston, VA location.

The Technical Product Owner will play a critical role in supporting our AI initiatives. The ideal candidate for this position will work in a hands-on capacity with technical teams, bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution. We are looking for a creative technologist who can help guide architectural and design decisions to ensure alignment between technical teams and business leadership. Preventing the problem is the goal, but finding the solution is your focus. You believe that it can always be made better, faster, and more reliable!

Technologies and processes you'll use:

Scrum, Kanban, AWS, and Azure suite of products and services for IaCs, AI/ML, GenAI, Data Management, and operationalization to host production workloads; GitHub (including GitHub Actions); Azure DevOps (including Agile DevOps); and GenAI models of various types.

Here’s what you’ll be doing day to day:

Define and refine high-level features and their objectives in collaboration with product leadership.

Facilitate understanding of upcoming features across the program and its teams, drawing out technical and business context to ensure objectives are met.

Facilitate feature decomposition and backlog refinement sessions to create manageable work items (that are technical in nature) for delivery.

Manage the team’s work tracking system (Azure DevOps) to maintain traceability between business goals, technical tasks, and delivered outcomes.

Proactively identify knowledge gaps and help the team organize to close them.

Create operational processes to support the product.

Write and review test cases to ensure they reflect business expectations and the details of technical implementation.

Gather metrics to forecast delivery timelines and provide feedback on the development process.

Support the Agile Lead to help facilitate continuous improvement of the team’s processes and work system.

What you must have:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline.

2 or more years of hands-on experience building applications with AWS, Azure, or other cloud service providers.

8 or more years of experience in a technical role, either as a product owner, business analyst, or similar.

2 or more years of experience working in product development.

2 or more years of experience working with Agile software development process (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps (incl Agentic DevOps), Jira, Asana, LeanKit.).

US Citizenship is required

What we'd like you to have:

Preferred cloud experience in Azure

Demonstrated understanding of User Acceptance Testing and test case development.

Demonstrated understanding of product development in IaaS/PaaS/SaaS in Cloud environments.

Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies (e.g., Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement).

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments typical of early-stage startups

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$130,037.00 - $221,063.00
