Job Description
This position oversees veterinary care and ensures compliance with animal welfare regulations, including SOPs, The Guide, AWA, and USDA. The role involves managing and training veterinary technicians to maintain high standards of animal care.
ResponsibilitiesProvide daily veterinary care and manage the veterinary care system.Lead and train animal care staff in clinical practices, PPE, and biosecurity.Maintain interdepartmental collaboration and updated animal records.Develop and implement SOPs; represent the facility in regulatory matters with USDA, CDC, and AAALAC.Participate in veterinary program reviews and continuous improvement.Be on-call for emergencies and supervise veterinary technicians.Essential SkillsDVM/VMD with eligibility for FL licensure.5+ years of hands-on experience with non-human primates, preferably cynomolgus macaques.Valid veterinary license in at least one U.S. state; USDA accreditation eligibility.Additional Skills & QualificationsBoard certification is a plus.Strong communication and leadership skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented.Comfortable working in diverse and physically demanding environments.Work Environment
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The role may involve wearing protective gear and working in varying environmental conditions. The workplace offers a unique opportunity to engage in biomedical research focused on the care and management of 100% Specific Pathogen Free cynomolgus monkeys.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $155000.00/yr.
