The Position

The Clinical Services Manager will oversee the mental health team providing support to individuals experiencing homelessness. We're looking for someone with strong knowledge of challenges like health, substance abuse, mental health, and domestic abuse. You should have experience in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and behavioral health. The role requires skills in data entry, reporting, and working with social service agencies and community resources. Excellent communication, advocacy, and leadership skills are key, with bilingual Spanish/English being a plus. You should be able to work well in a team, stay organized, and handle tasks efficiently. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when needed is required.

What You'll Do

•\tEnsure accurate data collection and tracking of participants receiving mental health services.

•\tSupport the mental health team in developing engagement strategies and tools for assessing treatment progress, care needs, and termination.

•\tOversee mental health assessments and manage referrals to internal and external care providers.

•\tProvide crisis intervention and conflict management support for staff and participants.

•\tGuide housing staff and case managers in helping participants secure permanent housing based on mental health needs.

•\tBuild partnerships with mental health providers and maintain a resource list for staff and participants.

•\tAdvocate for participants with external organizations and agencies when needed.

•\tHandle calls to emergency services when necessary and follow up with required documentation.

•\tEnsure staff submit weekly reports on mental health services and participant updates.

•\tOrganize mental health events and create psychosocial classes/groups tailored to participant needs.

•\tHire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate Mental Health Specialist team staff.

•\tManage MSW intern program and ensure interns support participants effectively.

•\tCoordinate with co-located staff (e.g., DHS, DMH, Substance Use providers).

•\tAssist in standardizing clinical services across the department.

•\tAttend staff, agency, and community meetings as directed.

•\tDrive personal or agency vehicle to transport participants and for site visits.

•\tPerform additional tasks as assigned.

What You're Skilled At

•\tDemonstrated knowledge of issues facing program participants (e.g. health, substance abuse, mental health, domestic abuse, child welfare, resources for undocumented persons)

•\tAdvanced understanding of trauma informed care, harm reduction, housing first, motivational interviewing, substance use disorder interventions, and behavioral health interventions.

•\tAdvanced understanding of crisis intervention, de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques and interventions

•\tAdvanced skills in risk and safety assessment, safety planning, and mandated reporting

•\tMust be able to perform and provide oversight of electronic data entry, reporting, documentation, file compliance and case noting.

•\tKnowledge of social service agencies and community resources

•\tExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

•\tAbility to advocate on behalf of LAFH participants.

•\tBilingual: Spanish/English preferred but not required

•\tAbility to work within and lead a team.

•\tSolution focused problem solving skills required

•\tGood organizational skills, and ability to follow through from start to finish on tasks and projects.

•\tExcellent public speaking skills

•\tMust be able to work evenings or weekend when requested by the Director of Interim Housing

Other

•\tAble to maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards.

•\tObtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification

•\tAbility to pass post-offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances

•\tTravel is a regular duty for this position and is required 50% of the time

•\tUse of a personal vehicle to travel between worksites and other locations is required.

•\tMust have and maintain a valid California Driver's License and insurance in good standing

•\tAbility to work a 9/80 work schedule.

Experience

•\tMaster's Degree with completed license in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field and at least four (4) years of social service experience (MSW Preferred)

•\tHomeless services experience preferred

•\tAbility to provide LPS designation preferred

•\tAbility to provide clinical supervision to staff seeking licensure preferred

•\tAt least two years of supervising staff in a social service setting preferred

Additional Skills & Qualifications

At least one (1) year of work history and relevant transferrable skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs, strong assessment skills, risk assessment capabilities, and the ability to make mandated reports.

Experience working with individuals facing severe mental illness, substance use, and chronic medical conditions is important. Customer service, retail, or phone technical support experience can be beneficial.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $83000.00/yr.
