Clinical Research Nurse Manager

Position directly reports to Dr. Rachel Whelan within the Department of Otolaryngology, Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

o Seeking a motivated, capable nurse for a hybrid clinical research position studying children and adolescents with obstructive sleep apnea. Job will include creating/maintaining an electronic patient database as well as direct patient care during a specialty sleep clinic. Ideal applicant will have statistical knowledge/experience, excellent organizational skills, enjoy working in teams, and have some degree of clinical experience.

o Must attend in-person clinic every other Wednesday at CHP North location, other days more flexible to accommodate a remote workday.

Manages patient/subject recruitment for multiple, simultaneous studies and identifies and enrolls patients into clinical trials utilizing appropriate enrollment standards. Oversees day-to-day implementation of study protocols/clinical trials as well as medical histories and lab values. Performs technical nursing duties and neuropsychological testing, responds to all medical emergencies, prepares accurate documentation for human research studies, and assists in the preparation of abstracts and manuscripts for publication. Ensures all protocol and regulatory standards adherence.

o Creates and maintains secure electronic patient database

o Helps with IRB creation and patient consent process

o Performs statistical analysis and potentially helps with manuscript creation

o Serves as a centralized point of contact for families navigating diagnosis and treatment of OSA

o Works directly with collaborator physicians, researchers, and medical students at home and away institutions to optimize research collaboration
