Summary
Summary: Monitors and evaluates clinical practice trends and patient outcomes. Coordinates performance improvement activities to promote excellent patient care and outcomes. Develops ongoing education program for staff based on results of quality improvement data, risk reduction strategies/patient safety initiatives and evidence based practice. Responsibilities: Collaborates with patient care services, medical, and quality departments' staff and leadership, management team, and academic affiliations. In collaboration with appropriate management team(s): * identifies clinical practice and patient outcomes to be monitored. * reviews departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations and monitors their implementation. * coordinates activities to sustain JC accreditation of departmental services and staff. Acts as consultant to the management team and staff on clinical and safety practice. Represents the Department at various committee meetings. Participates in Peer Review and other work group activities such as the Practice Council, Quality Council, and Staff Education (Journal Club, Annual Competencies, Poster Development, Case Reviews). Fosters collaborative relationships with academic affiliations. Works with instructors on defined initiatives. Coordinates activities of the performance improvement and staff professional development programs. Coordinates staff education program, scheduling and content development. Coordinates preceptor and charge nurse education program and development activities. Serve as expert clinical resource for staff education & training to facilitate appropriate on-boarding, orientation & maintenance of essential clinical competencies. Develop ongoing education program for staff based on results of quality improvement. Assess & translate educational needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate evident-based (EB) staff professional development and education initiatives. Plan and implement unit-based and/or disease-line specific education initiatives. Develop, implement, and evaluate organizational clinical orientation. Facilitate departmental orientation. Plan, implement, and evaluate annual and on-going competency assessment. Acts as educator and resource to staff. Monitors clinical practice trends and patient outcomes. Evaluates, updates and reports quality/safety practice data to the management team and department staff. Facilitates in-depth analysis and risk reduction strategies/actions plans for high risk processes as well as actual events. Monitors follow-up strategies and recommendations. Reports data analysis and ongoing action plan progress to relevant leaders and committees. Supports the evaluation of new equipment/products, applications, services and clinical procedures. Serves as leader to foster an environment of continual performance improvement and clinical excellence focused on excellent patient care. Implements processes for organizational improvement. Promotes innovative practices in educational environments. Develops leadership and influence skills to shape and implement change. Champion collaborative practice and interprofessional communication. Experience: Required: * 5-7 YEARS Experience in staff education & outcomes management. Education: Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred: * Master of Science in Nursing MSN prepared RN; Relevant clinical experience (=5 years) may substitute for MSN upon hire with required enrollment in an MSN program within 18 months and completion within 5 years of hire Licenses And Certification: Required: * Basic Life Support * Registered Nurse License Preferred: * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support * APRN-Clinical Nurse Specialist LicenseAdditional Information
