The Clinical Operations Supervisor is involved in providing quality diagnostic and supportive patient care services in accordance with physician orders, health care practices, and professional standards; ensures implementation of hospital policies and procedures, and provides management direction in the control and utilization of human and material resources. Practice in accordance with state and federal law and health care regulatory standards. * Provides direct supervision of assignments and workflow daily for the Respiratory Therapy Department * Develops department work schedule and call schedule. * Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. * Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.ag * Assists in the implementation of new policies and keeps employees abreast of new developments. * Supervises the training and instruction of new Respiratory Therapy employees; provides technical guidance and direction as required. * Participates in the rotating Administrative Call. * Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment. * Maintain liaison with appropriate administrative staff, physicians, nursing services, laboratories, and other Hospital personnel regarding problems, treatment,s and departmental priorities. * Direct a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers, vacation schedules, and disciplinary actions. * Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources. * Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders. * Participate in direct patient care as indicated by the needs of the department or under the direction of the Director of Pulmonary Services. * Identify and prepare departmental objectives and submit related reports as directed by the Director of Pulmonary Services. * Provides diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for physician-prescribed patients with acute and chronic cardio-pulmonary dysfunction, utilizing state-of-the-art procedures and bio-medical equipment. * Performs Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) -Martinsville Campus Only *Minimum Education:* * Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Practitioner Program, Associate Degree in a Cardiopulmonary Science; preferred Bachelor's Degree or the desire to obtain this degree. Drag *Required Skills:* * Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. * Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. * Requires a full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye and hand coordination. * Requires standing, walking, stooping, and stretching. Occasionally lifts, carries, and pushes items weighing up to 100 lbs. (Mechanical ventilators, electrocardiographs, stretchers, and patient care carts). * Requires corrected vision and hearing to the normal range. * Requires working under stressful conditions, extended shifts. Drag *Required Certifications/**Licenses: * * Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) * Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. * Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to include Advanced Life Support. * American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider required. Drag *Minimum Work Experience:* * Ten years of general cardio-pulmonary clinical experience.
