The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Nurse Practice Specialist (NPS) provides clinical support at the bedside, ensures best practices, and upholds evidence-based care to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Applicants should be energetic leaders who develops collaborative relationships with staff, peers, and members of the various interdisciplinary teams. This is a 40 hour position, 8 hours a week will be clinical practice.

The Endoscopy Unit includes 3 separate centers of care: an adult outpatient unit, an adult inpatient and outpatient unit for more comprehensive care and a pediatric center. Each endoscopy unit is self-contained with a pre-procedural area, procedure rooms, and recovery space. Staff work in all three areas and rotate between the outpatient center and the inpatient area on the main campus.

The Endoscopy team includes the Endoscopist, RN’s, Surgical Techs and Patient Care Assistants with a Child life specialist for the Pediatric center. The unit is committed to providing state of the art care with a wide range of endoscopic procedures available. The department provides a full range of IV sedation or anesthesia for the procedures.


 

Job Summary

Responsible for enhancing nursing practice standards and promoting professional development within our hospital through developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based nursing practice standards and protocols.

Essential Functions
*Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based nursing practice standards and protocols.

*Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to nursing staff to enhance their clinical skills and professional development.

*Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care outcomes and ensure adherence to best practices.

*Conduct assessments, identify educational needs, and develop training programs for nursing staff.

*Serve as a resource for nursing staff on complex clinical cases and ethical dilemmas.

*Facilitate research activities, quality improvement initiatives, and participate in evidence-based practice projects.

*Monitor and analyze trends in nursing practice and healthcare regulations, recommending improvements as needed.

*Participate in committees, meetings, and professional organizations to promote nursing excellence


 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Nursing required. Nursing leadership or teaching degree preferred.

RN Endoscopy GI experience required

NP/CNS experience preferred.

Current Massachusetts RN License required.

BSN degree required.

Licenses and Credentials
Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of evidence-based practice, quality improvement methodologies, and healthcare regulations.

Extensive clinical experience with a focus on a specialized area within the hospital (e.g., critical care, oncology, etc.).

Strong leadership, communication, and teaching skills.

Strong communication skills both written and oral.
