Clinical Nurse Residency Program - Acute Care Cancer Center (ACCC - ER)
Shift hours: Three shifts per week with rotating weekends or holidays required.
Evening/Night Shift: 7:00pm - 7:00am
Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $32.69 - Midpoint $50.48 - Maximum $68.26
The ideal candidate will have graduated with a BSN in the last 12 months, passed NCLEX, and completed a clinical rotation or PSNE program at MD Anderson.

SUMMARY
Function: Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.
Scope: Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Job Functions:
· Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
· Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.
· Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
· Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
· Participates in data collection for current studies.
· Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
· Documents care according to established standards.
· Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.
· Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
· Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights.
· Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
· Other duties as assigned.

Received: Manager, Director or designee.
Given: Assigned staff.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Education Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
Experience Required: None.
Experience Preferred: Completion of a clinical rotation or PSNE program at MD Anderson.
Licensure/Certification Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if working in the following department: Nrsg Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160).
Other Required: All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

EDUCATION:
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing would be a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. This position is not eligible for the residency program.
Preferred: Completion of a clinical rotation or PSNE program at MD Anderson.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening.
