Clinical Laboratory Assistant II - Lab AOMC
Job DescriptionAbout the Role: Join our dedicated Laboratory Services team as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant 2 (CLA 2), where you'll play a key role in supporting essential lab operations during our evening/night shift. You’ll be responsible for a variety of non-technical functions that are critical to the success of our lab—ranging from phlebotomy and specimen processing to registration and courier duties. Your Schedule: + Shift: Rotating schedule — Week 1: 3 days on, 4 days off; Week 2: 4 days on, 3 days off. + Hours: 7:30 PM – 6:00 AM (10-hour shifts) What You'll Do: + Perform phlebotomy with strict adherence to safety and patient identification protocols + Register patients and accurately enter lab orders based on provider documentation + Process, label, and track specimens for in-house and reference testing + Prepare and handle 24-hour urine and other specialized specimens + Maintain and monitor lab supplies, ensuring availability and expiration compliance + Perform courier runs to transport lab materials and medical supplies as scheduled + Provide support at Patient Service Centers, including documentation, order entry, and specimen handling + Conduct home draw visits with a focus on safety and patient comfort + Assist with office functions such as answering phones, managing faxes, and maintaining temperature logs + Deliver excellent patient service through professional, compassionate communication + Adapt to changing responsibilities in a dynamic healthcare environment What We're Looking For: + High school diploma or equivalent preferred + Required: Valid driver's license meeting agency standards + Required: Completion of CLA 1 competencies and one of the following: + One year of laboratory experience + Current phlebotomy certification + Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment + Strong communication and interpersonal skills + Commitment to safety, compliance, and exceptional patient care Physical Demands: + Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping + Regularly lift up to 20 lbs; occasionally lift up to 40 lbs + Moderate reaching and physical activity throughout shift Exposure Category: + Category I: Position involves tasks with regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues + Must follow all infection control and PPE protocols If you're looking to make a difference behind the scenes in patient care—and want a schedule that gives you daytime flexibility—this role is for you!
