SUMMARY:
The Clinical Informaticist works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems. This position provides leadership for planning and administering information operations for clinical departments.
The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for coordinating aspects of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical information systems. This position utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the Information systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associates in related field required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years experience in acute care setting with organizational, analytical, interpersonal and project management skills required. Previous management experience preferred. Proficiency with computer applications required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires long periods of reading, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires eye and hearing strain at times. Works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports to the Director of Clinical Informatics.
