They must fully understand the data collection, analysis for the hospital, and physician profiling. They will support ongoing communication and education on documentation opportunities, coding and reimbursement issues as well as performance improvement methodologies to the entire hospital staff. The Clinical Documentation Specialist Manager will oversee the performance and expectations of the CDI Specialists and work in conjunction with the CDS Teams; Health Information Management /Coding Professionals; Physicians; Physician Assistants; and Licensed Registered Nurse Practitioners to ensure compliant, accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Medical Record by supporting the Coding Process, Qualifications Requirements: + Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing Required + New Jersey Registered Nurse License Required + Certification CDIP or CCDS preferred or must obtain within one year in the position + Prior experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist required, a minimum of two years preferred + Prior use and understanding of ICD-10-CM coding requirements + Passing grade on Nuance Competency Exam Preferred: + A minimum 5 years' acute hospital experience as a clinical nurse preferred + A minimum 2 years' supervisory experience preferred Certifications and Licenses Required: + New Jersey Registered Nurse License Required + Certification CDIP or CCDS preferred or must obtain within one year in the position Essential Functions: The Clinical Documentation Specialist CDS Manager responsibilities will include providing day to day oversight of the CDS Teams in their Region and will include the following: + Strategic Planning - Work in collaboration with the AVP to align the CDMP Department ensuring the Clinical Documentation Specialists understand their role, expectations and responsibilities; assist with the planning, developing, implementation and monitoring of goal setting for current, yearly and future states of CDMP Program; ensure standardization of all hospitals and programs; maintain and follow CDS Compliance Guidelines and Policies + Team Management and Development responsibilities including scheduling, payroll, performance evaluations including both Introductory and Yearly Evaluations, coverage for leadership, Educator, and Managers of other regions as needed for time off; enforce CDI Standards of Compliance and Employee Code of Conduct within all teams, and manage performance, + Education and Collaboration including identifying and ensuring teams have the most updated education required to be a CDS employee; collaborate, provide direction and monitor performance of the Physician Advisor at each site including mentoring and education i.e Onboarding, Documentation Concepts/Strategies and Quality i.e. PSIs, HCCs; providing direction, education, and monitoring to the Medical Provider in response to their input, documentation and educational needs i.e. education of departments and requested provider venues; collaborate interdepartmental communication and use of process flows by the CDI Team with Coding, Leadership, Quality, and Case Management; educating physicians in real time and/or formal education sessions as invited for any and all Medical Providers and Leadership, + Financial Oversight and Productivity including preparation and presentation of performance data and fiscal analysis management reports and be able to assist with presenting to all levels of Clinical and Administrative Leadership, + System and Technology Management including software implementations throughout the system; EMR implementation and monitor compliance throughout system; managing and maintaining any and all Hardware and Software needs including the ability to enter CAMS and SailPoint Access Requests, + Other assignments and projects as assigned Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
