Clinical Coordinator - Infection Prevention & Control (Full-Time, 40, Day)
RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Implements, monitors, and updates a comprehensive program that encompasses both patient care and employee health issues. II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking. • Frequent: standing, sitting, walking, lifting and carrying usual weight of 10 pounds, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object. • Occasional: stopping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, lifting weight up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling weight up to 50 pounds of force, carrying usual weight of 10 pounds up to 25 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level. III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. • Must be available to take call on a rotational basis. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: • Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse. • Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field required. Master’s degree preferred with a preference in Public Health. • Successful completion of APIC’s EPI 101 or comparable course preferred. • Current certification in Infection and Prevention Control through the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) preferred. B. EXPERIENCE: • Two (2) years nursing experience in infection control, or in an acute care or community healthcare setting. • Leadership and teaching experience, including adult education principles, and/or patient care practices. • Experience to demonstrate: o Knowledge of epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, microbiology, sterilization, sanitation and disinfection practices. o Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). • Experience with regulatory requirements for Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other federal and state agencies. State of Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) experience preferred. • Experience working in process improvement, epidemiology and microbiology preferred. • Experience with a hospital Infection Prevention and Control Program preferred.
